It twas late Christmas eve and all of crush_4_troy's (thats me) neopets were sound asleep around the crackling fire. She drank hot coco in a big leather chair beside them. They looked so adorable, but then she counted 1,2...where's Alpine_2001???. I put my cup down and ran frantically around our new neohome...I shouldn't have built so many rooms. I heard a gelert whimper in my bedroom. It was definitely Alpine_2001. When I entered the room, she had her head stuck out the window and was staring at the stars. "Where's my mom...my real mother?" I looked at her and gave Alpine a big hug and cried "I cannot help that she abandoned you. She sent a letter that I think it's about time you see. I opened a box beneath my bed and inside was a neomail. I opened it up a read aloud while Alpine peered over my shoulder. I was sitting on the floor and she was leaning over the bed.

"Dear crush_4_troy,
Thank you for adopting Alpine_2001. Please take good care of her. I would have never got rid of her, but I think I had mistreated her. I can't afford to give her the things she wants. I hope you can thank you."

It was silent Alpine just stared at the letter. I kept asking if she was ever mistreated and she said "I remember one time without having food for weeks and when she decided to feed me a refused. And I was always stuck with broken toys while the other pets got fancy plushies. Then I found myself being dragged to the pound. Placed behind bars! Since I was a faerie pet, I was afraid that any mean, weirdo neopian might take me and forget to feed me, take care of my sicknesses, and give me toys. Thanks to you I am a healthy, delighted pup with a bloated belly 24/7!"

I was touched and a tear had rolled down my cheek. She jumped of the bed and ran into the family room. I put away the neomail and got up. I went to go look for Alpine_2001, again. I went back to the family room and Alpine_2001 was silently sleeping with my faerie kougra and halloween kau. I smiled and began drinking my coco. I noticed a letter placed besides Santa's cookies. Since I am so nosey I took my curious self over and read the note:

Dear Santa,
This is Alpine_2001, I know you give out free gifts to all good little kids and pets. I don't need much this year because I have an owner who cares. Sure you can send me a bone hehe from tyrannia...they're the best, but I think my owner deserves something. You see, she wants her kau to look cute and even though it is... she would like it to be cloudy. If you do not mind, can you whip up your magical powers and give her a cloud paint brush please? It is not much. My old owner used to be Jewish therefore I never knew you, but since things change, it feels like I have known you forever or at least I wish I did.

I placed the letter down, grabbed my coat, and ran down to the market before it closed. The money tree looked packed with all the poor people trying to kill themselves to get gifts for their pets. I stopped buy and donated ten thousand neopoints. Then i got out of there quick so I wouldn't get smashed. The toy shop was opened late. Almost everything was gone, but i spotted a 1-of-a-kind faerie plushie. What luck, it was a gelert too! I mad a dash for it and I made no haggle, I just bought it, hehe. I went home threw the bitter snow and got my gift wrapped. I stepped inside and placed it under the tree.

All of Santa's gifts were placed, I guess he already came and a new note was left beside the cookies. He drank my coco, what a pig! I eventually got over that and read the note.

Dear Jolly Lil' Alpine_2001,
Hohohohoho, I will do what you wish and you are a true hero to put up with your life of the past.
