Pet Name: Evan1109
Owner: miu1109
Breed: Pteri

About Evan1109:
We met that fateful day in a forest clearing.

I was exploring the new lands, wandering around the forests between Shenkuu and Altador, when I heard a something like a short shriek, then a crash. Alarmed, I rushed to the source of the noise, only to see a groaning blue Pteri and the broken remains of what seemed like used to be some sort of a flying machine.

“Uhh, are you… alright?” I inquired tentatively, my lack of social skills making an appearance at this moment.

Upon closer look, I realised that the blue Pteri was wearing a flight helmet with goggles and a scarf. He had a wing pressed against his head, and the other waving at my question.

“Do you need anything? Water? Bandage?” I continued pressing, already setting down my backpack on the ground and rummaging it for my first aid kit. Pausing to lift up two fingers, I tested for any serious head injuries, “how many fingers am I holding up?”

This time, the blue Pteri squinted his eye, trying to focus. “Two?”

I nodded, feeling much more assured. “Correct,” I confirmed, “now, I’m going check for any injuries.”

I had a feeling the Pteri was still feeling confused and disoriented, but he did not protest when advanced closer and put a straw into his beak for him to drink some water. While he was doing so, I quickly scanned the condition of his body, gently feeling for any injuries. When I was done, the Pteri was much more alert, and he was staring at me intently with his head tilted to the side in evident curiosity.

I felt my face heated up, colouring my cheeks in embarrassment. “I, erm— You’re all clear,” I managed unintelligently.

He grinned, unbothered. “Thanks, you’re a great help!” he chirped, already getting to his feet. “I’m Evan! May I have the pleasure of knowing the name of my saviour?” He bowed and scraped in a mock gentlemanly way.

I flushed further. “I’m Miu,” I introduced meekly, “and I didn’t do much, really!”

“Nonsense!” Evan trilled. “Come, I must invite you to my humble abode for some afternoon tea!”

Evan was having none of my futile attempts at protesting, so the both of us ended up in a treehouse, teacups filled with steaming sun tea and lemon sun cakes.

“I’m a huge fan of Exquisite Ambrosia,” he said as he munched happily on the snack. “How about you?”

“I’m not picky, but if I have to choose, I guess I like jelly food,” I confessed.

“Jelly? As in the food from Jelly World?” he echoed in tad disbelief, “woah, it exists?!”

“Mhmm.” I nodded, my bravado returning, “I travel a lot.”

“That must’ve been so awesome!”

He clapped his wings together in excitement, nearly knocking the table over but seeming not to care. The cool afternoon breeze carried with it the music of the forest.

“If you don’t mind me asking,” I started, breaking the lull in our conversation, “how did you end up in such a state just now?”

He laughed sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. “I was flying my newest prototype.”

“But you’re a Pteri?” I blurted out before I could stop myself. “I mean, erm, sorry.”

He smiled brightly. “It’s okay, I don’t mind. I’m a Pteri born with naturally weak wings, so I couldn’t fly the way others can.” His smile softened with a faint touch of longing at he looked at the blue sky above us. “Beautiful, isn’t it?”

For a long stretch of silence between us, I could not find a response to that. Then an idea struck me.

“Have you ever been to Shenkuu?” At the shake of his head, I could not help the bubbling anticipation in my chest. “They have these ships that can float in the air— Hey, do you want to come with me? I’m heading to Shenkuu, and maybe we can figure something out from there!”

Evan’s eyes sparkled. “Woah, really? I’ll be glad!”

We caught each other’s eye and laugh, lighthearted and cheerful, not a care in the world even as the forest dwelling peeked at us with bemused interest.

It was fate that we met each other, because that was when the journey—our journey—had only truly begun.
