About Lunesq:
My name is Lunesq.

And I've done things I'm not proud of.

You'd think me being a pirate captain would mean not really caring about anything I do, right?

Well I wasn't always a pirate captain, and I didn't always look like the way I do now either.

Before I was a pirate captain, I had a family; a husband and a young daughter, both who I loved dearly, but that life was taken away from me in an instant.

While I was out shopping at the port with my family, a pirate crew raided the docks and started taking neopians captive. My family managed to make it out unharmed, but I wasn't so lucky.

And this pirate crew wasn't like any other you've seen, the entire crew were mutants, either those who were forced to be mutants or those who were born mutants.

I was forced to be mutant just like the others on the ship, turning me into what I am now. I changed so much I couldn't even recognize myself.

I hated being on that ship, and escaping would either mean death or getting recaptured. I became depressed over the fact that I might not be able to see my family ever again.

But one of the other crew members saw my grief, someone who was forced to be mutant just like I was. His name was Gryphon.

He was an eyrie, and he was in the same port raid that I was. Seeing my condition, he decided to come and try to cheer me up. He was so cheerful and optomistic compared to the others, it really confused me as to why he was so cheerful.

After that, we both became close friends. We worked together on the ship, helping eachother in any hard tasks we had.

After a couple of months, he told me he had a plan to escape. I was dumbfounded when he told me this, because those who try to escape never make it.

He told me that since he had wings, he could be able to escape faster off of the ship and not need to use the dinghy, plus it would be quieter to just fly off. He told me that he originally was just going to go off by himself when he had the chance, but he asked me if I wanted to come along. I was stunned over his offer, since it would just be easier to go alone, but he wanted to take me along with him.

I took his offer, I was so excited the rest of the day that I had a hard time sleeping that night.

But what I did that night we left, I can never forgive myself for doing. I thought I was doing the right thing, but in reality I just ruined his life for the sake of my own...

The night was cloudy, the moon barely managed to pierce through the clouds covering it, with a faint glow covering the rest of the clouds. I could smell rain on the horizon, but that didn't stop us from going out that night.

I finished going around the ship to make sure that the other crew members were asleep. Once I knew the coast was clear, I ran back to Gryphon for the report.

"All of the crew members are asleep, Gryphon." I told him optimistically.

"Great, that means we're all good to go! Are you ready?" He asked me as he put his hand out towards me.

I stared down at his hand for a bit, thinking to myself that I could finally go back to my old life, go back to my family. It was hard for me to take in, but once I snapped out of it, I grabbed a hold of his hand and told him, "I'm ready."

He nodded to me in approval, and ran off towards the bowsprit. At first I was a bit surprised at the sudden take off, but I got a handle over myself and ran right behind him.

Once we were at the tip, he stopped. He told me to stay were I was, and started flying behind me. He put his arms down right above me for me to grab onto. I jumped up and grabbed a hold of them, and at first he jerked down a bit from the sudden heavy weight from my body, but he soon steadied himself and flew off.

After flying for about an hour, Gryphon's grip was starting to get weak. He would tighten his grip whenever he noticed I started slipping, but I was afraid he would give out soon.

But my worrying soon subsided, as we both noticed land off in the distance, Krawk Island to be exact. We both started celebrating at the sight of it, but I stopped as soon as I heard yelling from behind us.

"Lunesq, whats that yelling?" Gryphon asked me. I looked over my shoulder only to see the very pirate ship we tried to escape.

"Its the pirate ship! They somehow noticed that we escaped!" I yelled to him in a panicked voice.

"What?! But how did they noticed that we left? You checked to make sure everyone was asleep, right?" He asked me in an aggravated but also nervous voice.

"I did! Everyone was in their hammock fast asleep! I don't know how they managed to figure out we left, especially in the dead of night!" I yelled back to him.

"Gah, well we're almost to the island, we can lose them there!" Gryphon yelled back to me. But as soon as he finished, it started thundering. Rain soon followed after, making it hard to see the island. We got back into range soon enough, but that's when I heard a bang off in the distance.

A cannon ball came straight towards us, and hit Gryphon in the wing. He let out an agonizing cry and tossed me onto the cliff side. When I fell onto it, I hit my eye on a rock and cut it. Luckily it wasn't bad enough to where it left me blind, but it left a bad scar across my face.

I recollected myself and put my hand over my eye because of the pain, then I heard Gryphon yell out for me.

"Lunesq!" He called out to me. I ran back towards him, and saw that he barely had a grip on the edge of the cliff.

"Help me up, please! I-I can't hold on much longer!" He cried out to me. At first I went to reach out to him, but that's when I had the realization, if I helped him up, I wouldn't be able to escape the pirates, but if I left him, I could escape.

I started backing up slowly, and Gryphon cried out to me again, "Lunesq, wait! W-what are you doing?!"

My mind cried out to me to go back for him because he was my friend, and because he was the reason why I even managed to escape that dreaded pirate ship, but I had already made my decision.

"I... I'm sorry Gryphon but... I can't help you," I told him mournfully, "I have to go." I said to him as I ran off into the opposite direction, running back towards the city.

"W-wait! Lunesq don't leave me!" Gryphon cried out for me. I didn't look back, I just ran. I knew what I did was wrong, but I knew I had to do it if I wanted to escape.

When I got near the city, I heard a scream off in the distance. I paused and looked back for a moment, knowing it was Gryphon who let out the bloodcurdling scream. My stomach was in knots, I knew what I did was wrong, but that didn't matter. I shook it off and ran towards the city.

I wasn't sure how to feel getting back to the city, I felt guilty over what I did to Gryphon, but at the same time I could finally go back to my family.

But that's when I thought, how would they react over what I did? How would I explain to them that I betrayed someones trust to get back to them?

I stopped dead on my tracks. I didn't know what to do, I couldn't go back to my family, and now I couldn't go back to Gryphon.

I was lost.

I just sat there thinking to myself over and over, What have I done?

That's when I heard a door to a nearby shop open, and saw three different pirates walk out of it. I immediately ran and hid inside an alley, trying to evade their line of sight.

When I made sure they were gone, I just stayed back in the alleyway. I sat down and curled up my legs and wrapped my arms around them, and planted my face in them. I just sat there, wallowing in my own self-pity.

Then, one of the pirates I saw that came out of the shop noticed me in the alley and came over to me. "Are ya alright, miss?" He asked me. I let out a yelp because of his sudden appearance.

He was a mutant chomby, he was a dark purple with light red spots all over his body. He had dark green spikes coming out of his head and had four arms. He had long wavy hair kept up in a braid, and had a short goatee as well. He seemed menacing from his appearance, but his tone of voice sounded gentle and concerned.

I just stared at him for a bit not saying anything, keeping my distance from him as well, as I didn't know what he could do to me. He then came closer to me, and then asked me, "What are ya doing out here all alone in the rain? Aren't ya cold?"

I scooted back some more, and then returned to my previous position. I then said to him, "...It's none of your business, I would prefer to be out here in the rain anyways."

After I told him that, he looked very concerned, wondering why a lady like me wanted to be alone in the rain anyways. After a bit of thinking, he then said to me, "Well uh, if that's what you really want then, I won't bother ya. But if you want someplace to stay, I'll be over in that Inn over there," He said as he gestured to a Inn a few buildings down, "Just say that Howell sent you, they should let you stay for the night if you tell them that." He said as he winked at me. He then got up and went off to go back to the Inn.

I sat there for a while wondering if I should go to the Inn, and if I really deserved to be there. I knew that if I stayed out in the rain any longer I would get sick, so I decided to go and stay for the night.

They let me stay overnight in the Inn, and I met Howell again in the morning. He asked me why I was in the alleyway that night, but because I was too scared to tell him the truth, I lied to him. I knew that if I told him the truth, he wouldn't want to be around me.

He believed me, and decided to help me out. I felt guilty for lying to him, but I knew its what I had to do. Soon after, we decided that we should form a pirate crew together. He suggested me be the captain, but I urged him to be the captain instead, since he seemed more experienced than me. He eventually convinced me to be captain, and we started recruiting.

15 years later and I still haven't told him the truth, I haven't told any of my crew members the truth, and I plan to keep it that way.

But I'm not sure how much longer I can keep it a secret.

Because Gryphon is on my tail with his own pirate crew.
