About Joel_101:

As a young Lupe, life was full of adventures for me, which ranged from completing the task of catching a butterfly or going to training school everyday to doing my chores at home. There is one adventure that I remember above all others.

You see, my cousin, Mat the Fire Lupe is my best friend in the whole world. We do everything together and you can bet that I'd be upset if he turned up missing. That's exactly what happened.

One day, as I was playing in the field, a small, flying animal came up to me. I thought it was a bird at first, but as it got closer I could see the radiant, glowing light around it. This was no bird! It was a faerie! I'd heard little about faeries, except that they were rare and hardly ever seen.
"Hello, young Joel", the faerie greeted me, landing softly on a blade on grass. " I'm afraid I have some bad news....."
I finally caught my breath and I said politly, " Hello faerie, what news do you bring to me?"
"Your cousin, Mat," replied the faerie, "Has had a little accident. He needs your help right away!"
My ears perked up when hearing my cousin's name. "What happened to him?" I asked in horror.
"He's fallen into a pit and cannot get out. Hurry, follow me!" The faerie flew away at lightning speed and I struggled to keep up. I trudged through swamps and mud, rivers and streams and just as I was about to collaspe, a dark hole came into sight. This was where Mat was!

I came closer."Mat? Are you in there?" I asked gingerly, hoping for a reply.
"Yes....is that you Joel?" came a weak reply. "Please, get me out of here!"

I searched around frantically for something to use to get him out. Finally, my eyes landed on a long, green vine. I grabbed it, holding it firmly between my teeth, then swung the other end to Mat. "Grab ahold!"

After much struggeling and effort, the tired and weak Mat saw the sunlight once again.

I ran over to him. "Are you okay. Cousin?" I helped him stand on his wobbily feet.

Mat smiled weakly. "Thanks to you, I'll be fine." He hugged his paw around me and messed up my hair. "Way to go, Joel. You deserve a reward!"

Just then the faeire that had led me to Mat re-appeared. "I agree. Joel does deserve a reward. I will enter your story into the Neopian Pet Spotlight Contest! Maybe you will win!"

"That would be cool", I agreed. I turned to my cousin. "Come on, Mat, let's go home."
