Pet Name: Quinlin
Hello. My name is Quinlin and I am a vegan. You do not care that I am a vegan? Well, you should because I am also a zombie, and most zombies eat brains...
Okay, maybe I should have started my introduction out a little differently! I guess you should get to know a little bit about me before you hear about my eating habits.
You see, I wasn't always a zombie. I began life as a beautiful white Kacheek. I was shy and dainty and delicate... until that day. The day that changed my life forever.
I was on my way to visit a relative in Brightvale. I was terribly lost and somehow ended up in the Haunted Woods. I was wandering through endless miles of trees for hours. The sun was sinking lower and lower in the sky until complete and utter darkness surrounded me. What happened next was pretty much a blur of events that I do not care to remember (but to this day I have an unexplained fear of Count Von Roo).
My next memories were pretty peaceful. I felt safe and secure. Almost as if I was being held tightly in my mother's arms. I slowly gained full consciousness and that peaceful feeling began to fade. The feeling of my former security was the weight of the dirt that enveloped my entire body. I panicked at the realization that I was underground and I began to paw my way up, up, up.
I reached the surface. What a relief! I made it out alive (or so I thought). Oh no, my beautiful lace dress was ruined, and my shoes were nowhere to be seen! I put my paws to my face and wept, but wait a minute... these were not my soft, little paws. What in Neopia was going on?
Guess what? I was a zombie (I am hoping you guessed correctly since I already told you)! It took me a long while to come to my senses and realize what had happened to me. You can imagine how devastated I was. My former girly self was replaced by a brain-seeking, undead zombie. So back to my eating habits...
For some reason or another, zombies unearth in the most ravenous state! After coming to terms with my condition, all I could think about was how extremely hungry I was. I had the strangest craving for brains... and salt. I scoured the woods in search of any living creature to satisfy my need.
I finally spotted a sweet little schnelly playing in the distance. I crouched behind a bush, waiting to make my move, and I watched. The schnelly was chasing a little psimouse, playfully batting at the tiny rodent. I decided to make my move. I crept out from behind the bush and just as I was almost there, the schnelly heard my footsteps. Startled, she quickly turned around to look at me. We stood completely still, staring at one another.
What happened next shaped the future of my zombie life forever. What I thought was going to be my breakfast cautiously approached me, rubbed against my leg and started purring. WHAT!! How in Neopia could I eat the very first being to show my zombified self affection? I just could not do it. I had to go find myself a meal that didn't tug at my heart.
I went on my way to continue my hunt and the little schnelly followed. I quickly found a werhond napping under a tree. I tiptoed to the petpet, taking care not to make any noise this time. I bent over, opened my mouth, and suddenly stopped. The schnelly was right next to me, staring with his big green eyes. The stare... those eyes... I could not do it! I just could not do it! The schnelly was right; I could not share my undead fate with another innocent Neopian.
Right then and there I decided to become a vegan zombie! I made my way over to the Deserted Fairground to buy myself some spooky food (eww, they do not really have very many vegan options, but I made do). I loaded my food up with lots of salt, and I was good to go.
So you see, you owe the safety of your brain to my little schnelly, Oliver. If it wasn't for him, I would not have thought twice about what I was eating that day, and you probably wouldn't be here to read my story!
