But then one fateful night, mother Lupe heard a faint crying. It wasn't the same sound her cubs made, but the sad sound still troubled her. Father Lupe sleeping nearby didn't see any cause for alarm, but still, best to be sure.

One. Two. Three. Four.

Yep, all her children were present. Where was that crying coming from? She crawled out of the den and tuned her ears to the faint sounds of... whatever it was that was in trouble.

Her search brought her close to the herd of sleeping Unis. Slowly and carefully tiptoeing her way close, she saw where the noise was coming from.... a... a pile of leaves and twigs? Ok, why is it moving? It was not within the herd; in fact it was just a yard or two from the group. Upon closer inspection, the leaves and twigs contained.... what looked like a tiny abandoned cub? 'Something is strange, though... very odd little cub,' thought the mama. The fuzzy little creature had a pair of wings and a tiny horn poking out the center of her forehead. She was extremely fluffy and covered in so much fur that it covered up most of her face and hid her tiny hooves from view. The little thing looked up to the confused Lupe, still sniffing, the fur in her tiny face wet from tears. She coughed and settled back down in the bundle of leaves, trying to hide from the cold night air. 'Poor thing looks sick. Oh, I can't leave her all alone!' Mama Lupe thought. Gingerly, she picked up the cub, or whatever it was, by the nap of her neck, and carried her back to the den, where the rest of Lupe family quietly slept, unaware of the new addition to the family.

No one really suspected the little creature Mama Lupe found was none other then Veutara, an unusually tiny Tyrannian foal who once belonged to the herd of Unis. She was so small! A trait that the large, proud herd didn't take kindly to. She was left an outcast. Thankfully, though, she was found. Raised by a wonderful Lupe mama who taught her everything she knows. Once she became fully grown and strong enough to care for herself, she ventured out in the world and was soon adopted by a human. But her Tyrannian spirit never dwindled. With the ok from her owner, so she soon returned to the plains, carrying along her master's boot as a memento. Such a great home it turned out to be. Predators think nothing of the discarded shoe; it keeps dry in the rain and cool during the daytime heat... Not to mention, easy for the strong little Tyrannian to carry around. She still visits her old family and stays close to her new... even though some of her newfound siblings are rather difficult. Still, for one so tiny, she sure has a lot of spirit!
