Pet Name: Squidling
Owner: freckleface130
Breed: Moehog

About Squidling:
There once was a foolish young Moehog, the kind of neopet that would play without a care in the world long after the sun set over the hills. His head could often be found high up in the clouds, even while his legs were running across the ground. He had a coat as white as the clouds in the sky. This picture perfect naïve little Moehog went by the name of Squidling, who his owner, a cute little girl with a head full of curls and a face full of freckles, had so aptly distinguished him with.

Every day since his creation, Squidling would dart out into the world full of sunshine and cheer. Every day, his owner would shout after his bouncing white figure.

"Come back before dinner! And don't go into the forest!" the little girl would squeak at the top of her voice as her bright blue eyes watched him dash off into the distance of Meridell.

It seemed a simple enough rule for the young Moehog to follow. Yet like all foolish children, his curiosity one day spiked. His owner had often warned him of the dangers of the forest with strange tales that seemed utterly silly and pure fantasy.

"The fairies of the forest will snatch away poor little neopets that wander the forest, and play with you like you're a mere toy. Then just as the sun sets the sneaky fairies will offer you your favorite food, and if you accept you will forever become enchanted by their charm," his freckled faced owner would tell him time and time again, waving her small hands about for extra effect before cracking up at the little Moehog's look of disbelief.

The foolish Moehog thought little of the tales, and less of the warnings, as he pranced into the forest for the first time. Curiosity drove him further and further into its depths.

By the time his owner had noticed his disappearance, the sun was already setting and his dinner had already grown cold. With tears in her big blue eyes, the little girl had gone out at dusk shouting his name, only to have the cold night air drive her back inside. Tears rolled down her cheeks at her lost pet.

Years later when the little girl's freckles had faded, and her hair had straightened itself out, her own curiosity drove her into the forest. This time her heart filled itself halfway with hope when she had heard a strange screeching sound coming from the center of the forest. Even though it was a lost cause, the now grown girl pushed herself through the undergrowth of the forest. The branches seemed determined to stop her, and mud smeared her face and hair.

Just as the last of her hope was drained, the girl pushed her way into a small clearing. At first she couldn't see through the specks of green flashing around before her, but afterwards she couldn't see through her tear-filled vision.

A bright white Moehog was screeching to his heart's content. There wasn't a doubt in the girl's mind; this was her long lost pet, Squidling.

She smiled like she hadn't done in a long time, and hugged Squidling as hard as she could.

The white Moehog blinked slowly and stopped singing.

"Who are you?" he asked quietly.

"You don't remember me?" the girl said, suddenly pulling away.

"No, I don't," the Moehog responded before pausing briefly. "Come to think of it, I don't remember me either."
