Cuddly Ornaments

Hooray for the Holidays!
In this whirl wind holiday season we were thinking that every tree, house, den, and cave could use a bit more decoration. Thus your challenge for the next two weeks is to create an ornament of one of your Neopets out of felt (or some other fabric if you prefer). As always this ornament should be Neopets themed and created entirely by yourself. Your submission should include a picture of your ornament and what/who your ornament is of in the description. We will judge entries on creativity, fun, and their overall awesomness. :)

Aoiken is my first neopet, and my most beloved as well. I made a needle felted ornament of him carrying a present for his siblings, since he is also the most kind and caring out of the four.


Faerie fun for the holidays!

I immediately thought of my adorable Faerie Shoyru, Starlet, as an ideal candidate for the design of a holiday ornament- a treasured UC pet for 8+ years, she deserves the chance to shine! Her body is made entirely from felt that was wrapped, glued and sewn over cotton wool to make her three-dimensional and extra cuddly. I fashioned pieces of wire to form the shape of her wings, and in order to achieve a delicate, translucent effect that captures her majestic faerie style, I applied sheer stocking garment material along with a light sponge-coating of paint. For the finishing touches, I adorned the wings with gems and glitter glue to create a sparkly effect. She will hang proudly as a permanent fixture of my family’s Christmas tree for many years to come!

Not only for Christmas Pets!

"But you can't decorate a Christmas tree, Giaccomo! You're Halloween, not Christmassy at all!" But Giaccomo didn't care what they said, he and his angelpuss decided they'd hang ribbons on every tree they could find. After all, Christmas can't be only for Christmas pets, right? (This ornament is made in the likeness of my Halloween ixi Giaccomo [reference image included!], who just wants to help decorate the tree despite being the wrong holiday colour. It also includes his angelpuss, who seems to have run off with Giac's decorating ribbons. Both Giac and his petpet are made entirely out of sculpted felt, through a nifty technique called needlefelting. The only things not felted are the ribbons [just normal ribbons], their irises [push pins], and the wires in their limbs/the halo/acting as an ornament hook. Happy holidays!)

Faerie Jetsam Ornament

One of my oldest and favorite Neopets is my faerie Jetsam, Tiberonth, who just loves celebrating the holidays, so he was a natural choice! This was my first experience in both making a pattern and sewing a plushie, so it was a little challenging, but well worth the effort. Making it took approximately ten hours total. Tiberonth looks great decorating my tree, and just see how happy he is! Happy Holidays!

Here is a plushie ornament made of my pet, life_sux_deal_wit_it. He is made entirely out of felt and everything is put together with thread and needle, no glue was used. He hangs by his ears, but unfortunately I do not have a tree on which to hang him. Accompanying him is his trusty petpet, 1337 the strawberry snowbunny. He hangs by a thread. He was made of felt and a reusable shopping bag to create the pockmarked look of strawberries.

It felt like christmas

Inspired by the theme of this contest, I've decided to make my own Shay (_dark_oracle_, a uc plushie buzz), since that theme has everything to do with his character and his neopet version. I've always wanted to make a handmade Shay! I hope you guys enjoy this little bug as much as I do. It took me 2 days at all and I've used patience, felt, a needle, sewing thread, scissors, acrylic wool, fabric glue, paper, pencil and a cat. Joke. Asking your cat some help isn't a good idea. Meowrry Christmas everybody!

Here is Dakerry, the red Zafara, helping to decorate for the holidays. He was made using felt, glue, and paint for the details. He also has a little piece of wire in both of his hands so that they can bend to hold on to decorations like garland, bulbs, or small ornaments like this mini wreath.

This is a Christmas ornament I made. I put it on blue felt and white snow so you can see it a bit better in a more Christmassy way! The string is on the bottom of it hiding. It is suppose to go on the Christmas tree. I used all different colors and types of felt for this and clear super glue to hold it all together. Mostly soft felt and hard felt. This Aisha is wearing a pink santa hat and a pink gown. She's also holding a candle!
