– Subtly Vindictive –

I could tell you why I did it, but you might scoff.

What is it, you ask? So you don't know. Eh, suppose I shall tell you while I get you out of here. You see, you are not welcome in these tombs and if the other guardians find you... best not to think about it.

So about me. Whatever reason you came to this desert tomb, surely you've noticed the riches that adorn every corridor. I thought that perhaps I could pilfer a few choice items without consequence and impress the father of a certain girl. You see, socially, she was leagues above me, but that is neither here nor now.

Since I am here now, I'm sure you can gather that I was less than successful. *weak chuckle* So, I am now a guardian of that which I sought to take. They renamed me Chepktah, theif, as a permanent reminder of what I attempted. The tomb guardians and I have been together a long time now, so relations between us have improved. For example, there's Hotkept, a cranky old seti who I have decent conversations with, most of the time. Most of all, it would not do for him to find us...

Oh its not all bad, especially lately. The guardians and I do get to leave on occasion. They don't even bring up my past crimes as often. Actually, they call me Chepi anymore, but I'll still answer to Paraktah as well if you prefer it.

Much as I like you and your presence, let's get you out of here before one of them finds you and you're stuck here forever... or worse. Let's not think about the worse, m'kay?

I can wear a hat or take it off, but either way its a conversation piece.
