The other day, my Koi asked me a difficult question. "How come all the other pets have so much higher resolution than me?" he said, his Pantone 292 dorsal fin drooping in a frown. "I feel so blue."
Stumped, I didn't know how to answer him. The truth is I hadn't thought about the origin of my fuzzy little Koi, let alone his spectre-like swamp gas sister (that's a story for another day). The little Koi and I had found each other in the Pound, both pre-formed and accepting of each other's unknown stories. That was a typical phrase of my mother. She always said that to my sister, and now she’s telling me the same.
But she should realize how hard it is not to be bumped by others.
Because the others can’t see me.
Because I’m invisible.
Not the metaphorical invisible; the real invisible. Some Neopets are pink, some are orange, and I’m invisible. That’s how things are. My entire family is invisible, a big and traditional family of invisible Neopets. Our kind of Neopet usually interact with our own people because, well, it’s quite hard to interact with someone you can’t properly assume where they are.
And I had an idea that my first day at school would be anything but great.
“Whatever, mom”, I answered. I just wanted to be done with this and walk to school.

Once upon a time there was a wooden boy called Mars Wolf. He was on the way to see his cousin Ruby Gil, when he decided to take a short cut through Faerieland.
It wasn't long before Mars got lost. He looked around, but all he could see were trees. Nervously, he felt into his bag for his favourite toy, Dolly, but Dolly was nowhere to be found! Mars began to panic. He felt sure he had packed Dolly. To make matters worse, he was starting to feel hungry.
Unexpectedly, he saw a fuzzy Vandagyre dressed in a purple top hat disappearing into the trees.
"How odd!" thought Mars.
For the want of anything better to do, he decided to follow the peculiarly dressed Vandagyre. Perhaps it could tell him the way out of the forest.
Eventually, Mars reached a clearing. He found himself surrounded by houses made from different sorts of food. There was a house made from peas, a house made from chips, a house made from chocolates and a house made from fruit gums.

How Altador came to be could then be rewritten by someone with malicious intentions, such as The Darkest Faerie herself.
Thankfully, Finneus, a blue elderly Lenny, managed the archives ever since the heroes of Altador created it. The well-respected scholar made sure every sheet of paper and book were kept in order and organized alphabetically. Without the man, no Neopian would be able to read about the city or learn of its lore.
On this particular warm day, the Lenny politely asked the queen of Altador, Nera, to write down her own history. In all the years of living in the city, the light brown Xweetok never wrote down her own tale. Her husband Altador wrote his, the rest of the council and citizens had as well, but not Nera. |
