Heiwami's Tale: After The Talent Show

by humblely

--------

A/N: To understand this story, you should read, Heiwami: Opening Doors. It's number one hundred two.

I have told R.J., Random_Joy, my sad story of my former slave like life. She, in turn, wrote about it. But now, it is time for me, Heiwami, to write about my experiences, my life. So, here goes my story, after the talent show. (Some parts of the story are narrated by R.J. because I was unconscious of what happened in her part of the story.)

"May I see your identification card?" I blinked twice at the brightness of the flashlight. It had been less than a week - three days to be exact - since the talent show incident and the last that I had ever seen of Lena, Delilah, Cleona, and Marcus. I gazed up at the yellow Chia officer who was obviously getting impatient and was tapping his foot against the sidewalk.

"I, um, must have dropped it. I'm so clumsy," I whispered, staring at the pale moon in the navy blue sky with stars glittering like diamonds.

"Miss, I am afraid that I will have to bring you to the pound. Any Neopet found outside with no identification card, must be brought to the pound immediately, no excuses." With that, the yellow Chia took my arm and led me to the pound. I was mute, because there were no place I could stay. All these three days, I was wandering through streets, and slept on the sidewalk, unnoticed.

---

I had been at the pound for a week now. Everything said about Doctor Death is not true. He is kind, so kind. For those who are brought by their owners, painted and all, ignore his soothing words and snap at him as he brings some soup from the Soup Faerie to fill their bellies. As I lived at the pound, I noticed many things. But the important thing was that the Police Chia Team (PCT) usually brought three abandoned Neopets to the pound. One day, however, a Chia brought another unfortunate Neopet who was probably also missing an identification card. But, the Neopet that the Chia had brought and thrown into my cage, was a Purple Moehog, and could it be?

"Marcus! Is that you?" I squealed, overjoyed. The Neopet turned his head towards me. Marcus's eyes flashed a mixture of regret, sorrow, and happiness.

"Heiwami. Heiwami, is that really you?" Tears dripped down his snout.

     "It is," I wept.

"The note, Lena forced me to give it to you. Then last night, it was too much for me, knowing you were on the streets. I ripped my identification card off because whoever found me, would return me to Lena. The police officer found me. And here I am. I've misse-" Here, Marcus was cut off by a boy. The boy was about fourteen years old and had flaming red hair. The boy slapped one hundred twenty Neopoints to Rose and snatched Marcus out of my cage.

"Marcus!" I screamed with more tears flooding my eyes. My brother, who I had thought given up on me, had come to see me. He loved me and sacrificed his safe old life for knowing my safety of my new one. But with the slam of the door, Marcus was forever gone. And I was left alone, again, as my heart turned into a million pieces of a delicate smashed vase and I laid down on the cold, cold metal floor of my cage, realizing how cold it really was. One hour became a day, and a day became a week. I still lay on the cement floor of my cage, depressed. Doctor Death looked at me with sympathetically, but didn't say anything to me as he places a bowl of chicken soup beside me, each day. Each day, I refused the soup, despite the fact that it was my favorite. I knew that I was slowly starving and dying because I saw more and more people passing by my cage, concerned at my appetite. When I caught a glimpse of myself through Rose's hand mirror, which she uses an hour of so to admire herself, I was even more depressed. My once lively rosy chubby cheeks were no longer there. Instead, sickly pale yellow skin as thick as leather replaced them. My eyes were blood shot red from lack of sleep and restlessness. I was really dying.

The next day, the day I knew that I was not going to live any more days, I closed my eyes and dreamt of the land of Deletion.

---

( This part, is narrated by R.J.)

Little did Heiwami know, that a young blonde girl was strolling into the pound with her two pets, one red Ixi and a wingless faerie Kougra.

"Are there any Neopets that are really needy for a home?" whispered the girl to Rose. Rose nodded and led her to Heiwami's cage.

"This one's bound to not live for another day. Look at her. Her skin's too thin. We gave her food, but she never touched them. I think the last Neopet who was sharing this cage with her was some kind of dear friend of hers, but he left a while ago. Ever since then, she's been moping like that." The girl looked down at her two pets that were fighting among themselves.

"Why is it whenever I do something, you have to copy? You're such a copy Kougra, Tora!" complained the red Ixi.

"I did not copy you! I like naming my petpet after vegetables too, you know. It is not fair tha-" replied the wingless faerie Kougra. He did not say anything else because the red Ixi had bonked him on the head with his pan. Tora fell down, dazed.

"Giving and Tora! I told you guys not to cause a ruckus. And then what did you do?! You caused one!" The girl yelled in annoyance.

---

(In the view of Heiwami, me)

I blinked one eye. Was I still alive, or was deletion not very cold as it is said to be? I wondered to myself as I stared at the girl, the red Ixi, and the wingless faerie Kougra.

"I'm here, trying to get you a new sister, and look now," the blonde girl exclaimed quieter after realizing that I had woken up. "You woke her up."

"We're so sorry," muttered one of the pets.

"I'm so sorry." The faerie Kougra hissed at the red Ixi, "I did not copy you." The red Ixi just smirked at his brother.

"Hi, I'm Random_Joy, R.J. for short. Sorry about those two. I'm five feet three inches. My weight? Well, I'll tell you that later, after you are part of the family. The red Ixi with the frying pan is Lamb_of_giving, but we call him Giving for short. The other one is Torano_Courage, but Tora is what we all call him. You are? The blonde girl's voice startled me from my observations.

"Heiwami, and I do not have any nicknames."

     "So what do you like?"

"The color green, singing, Usuki dolls..."

"Oh my gosh! I love Usuki dolls! I especially like ripping their heads off." Giving said in a dramatic/ high-pitched girly voice.

"Oh, be quiet. Heiwami will keep your secret about playing with? R.J. paused for a dramatic effect and then yelled out "USUKIS!" Everyone, including Rose and Doctor Death who were showing other Neopians pets, stared at us as if we had suddenly mutated into a Dung version of Fyora the Faerie Queen.

Tora edged his way towards me and whispered, "She gets like that when she is off coffee. You will get used to it." I nodded.

R.J. called out, blushing, "Rose? Give me the adoption papers for this one." Rose gave her the papers and clicked open my door of my cage. A few moments ago, I was ready to pay a long visit to the land of Deletion. And now? I got a new chance at life, and I suddenly got the strength to live. All because of this family and how it touched my soul.

"So, R.J.," I looked mischievously at her after all the adoption papers were filled out, "how much do you weigh?" My new brothers laughed as my new mom's face reddened and she scratched a spot on her head and replied, "Uhhh?

Somewhere in a house, lives a happy Neopian family. It consists of a red Ixi, faerie Kougra, a mom, and a certain usul. This is my life.

The End

Author's Note: No, RJ did NOT write any of this. It was all the hard work of ME... and the editing of Oily...Bwahahah... Rj only gave me permission to use her characters, and the permission to continue her story about Heiwami... P.S. Sorry if my descriptions and actions of Rj's pets aren't exactly accurate... and I don't know RJ's height, I just wrote my height from last, last year... its been long since I checked my height... Enough blabbing, all I need to say is, I tried my hardest! :)
