Quote of the Week

They were all exhausted from all that they had done. But at least the world of Neopia was saved.

The Perfect Winter Vacation

Are you tired of making the same exhausting trip to Krawk Island every December, fighting against gangs of pirates just to get to a sunny beach? Then it is time to change up your holiday destination! Winter can be a depressing time of year for many, the sun isn’t shining as much and the temperatures drop to below freezing. Your friends all want to stay at home in the warmth rather than frolic in the park all day, it can get pretty lonely. For these reasons it is a perfect time to take a vacation!! In the past, Krawk Island was a great destination because it was cheap, sunny, and had a lot of gambling activities for you to do...but you’ve gone every year now! It is time to change it up and try something new.

All that Glows is not Gold

Everyone knows the good old saying 'All that glitters is not gold'. That saying which constantly reminds you that not everything that looks precious ends up being as it looks. I know it and I can assure you I know the exact same sentence in three different languages. However, what happens when something glows but it's not golden? Or when something golden doesn't glow? Does it hold that 'All that glows is not gold'? Asking the real questions, it is finally time to test the hypothesis and find out, by inspecting items spanning from the realistic to the more abstract. The first items on the list are the most realistic and the most obvious. The Golden paint brush and the Glowing paint brush.

Wheeler’s Wild Ride – A Guide to Gold!

Wheeler is a young yellow Lenny from Mystery Island who loves to ride his bicycle. The Underwater Chef has tasked Wheeler with collecting as many coconuts across the island as quickly as he can. To accomplish this task, Wheeler rides his bike through various parts of the island and across a variety of treacherous terrain. Terrain includes a assortment of hills, bumps, jumps, pits, and ramps.

"Winter's Wings" by cruthmac
It was a cold day in Neopia Central, or so Winter supposed. The shops were decorated with a thin dusting of snow that only grew larger as more flakes continued falling. The streets were crowded with warmly bundled up pets who chatted and laughed together as they did their holiday shopping. Having been a Snow Xweetok since the day she was created, Winter had never known what it was like to feel cold. Well, either that, or she was always cold and just didn't realize it. She liked her colouring fine, and it certainly came in handy considering that she lived on Terror Mountain. It did get a little frustrating, though, that her siblings could all rush off to have fun in warm places like Mystery Island and Moltara, while she had to stay home for fear of melting. Winter’s view of the falling snow was briefly obstructed by a pink and yellow blur as a Faerie Wocky zipped past overhead, arms full of brightly wrapped parcels. Winter couldn't help but stare enviously at his wings as he soared through the air. Yes, being Snow was fine, but she had always dreamed of being Faerie. It was a dream that would have to remain a dream for quite a while, though, as her owner simply couldn't afford such an expensive paintbrush. Still, she couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to dive into the Rainbow Pool and then fly out with her new wings shimmering in beautiful shades of teal and brown...

"Are All People Deserving of Success?" by butterflybandage
"Are all people deserving of success?" The six, intimidating words hung in the air, heavy and overcast. Krell looked around the room, a sea of nameless faces appearing to be just as unsure as he felt. This only comforted him momentarily when the professor smacked her cane against the chalkboard, once again drawing attention to the question. "Are all people deserving of success?" Krell shifted in his seat, too muscular to fit comfortably, his shoulders hunched up by his ears and left leg dangling awkwardly to the side. This caught the attention of the ancient Draik, whose sudden jerk of excitement startled the monstrous Kyrii. "You had something to say?" she asked expectantly. Krell figured he’d have to answer anyway, even if he embarrassingly explained he was simply squished like a sardine with thighs stuck between the seat and desk. Instead, he attempted an answer. "Uh. I mean, yeah? No?" A shiver ran down his spine. "Well, which is it?" she laughed. "It can’t be both!" The rest of the class nervously joined in, watching him from the corners of their eyes, relief echoing in their laughs, thankful they hadn’t been the ones singled out. Krell silently cursed his physique—how much trouble had it gotten him in?—and muttered a final, "I don’t know." The Draik raised a wrinkled hand, but was serendipitously interrupted by a Weewoo, chirping loud and determined.

"Dawn and Dusk vs the Bounty Hunter" by cyber1ofkakoradesert
I've had a lot of people ask me what it was like hanging out with Balthazar during our assignment on Famous Haunted Woods citizens, last year. Our fourth grade teacher Mr. Knack had even asked Mina and me about it when we started our History of Neopia’s heroes unit. (We were going to be required to do assignments on famous heroes this year!). I didn’t think an assignment we did in third grade would suddenly become so popular, but I guess I have a story to tell! It all started….. * * * It was a beautiful Friday afternoon. Mina was still in class taking the makeup math test we both had missed last week. I took mine an hour before final bell and Mina was taking her test now. Our teacher thought it would prevent cheating or us switching places. Our babysitter had been informed and was going to pick her up in an hour while I got to hang out and study with Balthazar the bounty hunter. He was the subject of our assignment for Famous people in the Haunted Woods. Our friend Mordred was doing his on Magax. The teacher had let Mina and I do this as a group project because there weren’t that many famous people in the Haunted woods who were considered nice enough to be around. Sophie and Bruno had reluctantly agreed to participate in it, where the ghost of Hubrid Nox was more than thrilled to be even considered as a mentor. The faerie Ilere had even been asked, but she turned it down.

Ballindalloch:Part Seven
Her dreams last night consisted of soccer, a thousand people thronging her backyard, cold lemonade and colder coffee, and Mr. Konishi. All the events of the previous day seemed to play over and over in Avery's head, as if they were a Neovision movie being rewound, fast-forwarded and rewound, and started over again.
