Quote of the Week

Midnight came. Midnight went. Half past midnight came and went. At seventeen minutes to one, Sam appeared, bow tie hanging untied around his neck and shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Bannok dropped from his perch in the rafters, interrupting Sam's lazy saunter. He stood with arms crossed and one eyebrow raised, waiting. Sam, the idle menace, grinned at him.

A Review of the Best Coffee in Neopia

Greetings everyone! As we prepare ourselves for the weather to get colder, why not head down to the Coffee Cave (found in Neopia Central's Art Centre) to try some of the incredible coffee products that are offered? While some may think that coffee is only a way to feel more awake in the morning, they are terribly misconceived! Coffee isn't just about the caffeine (even though that's a big part of it too), but the different flavors and designs that go with it! In this article I, a self-proclaimed coffee addict, will offer some (slightly dubious) suggestions of what to buy.

"Kads & Capers: The Petpet Detective Book 1" by pedigree_chump666
Life at the Kadoatery was a simple one. The petpets spent their time there in splendour; relaxing, playing, eating gourmet meals and being groomed and pampered. Each Kadoatie had their own private quarters, leading onto a vast communal space filled with anything a Kad could want. There were towering piles of plush pillows for them to rest upon, a grooming station where a wash, brush or fur-trim was available at the touch of a button, and a play area so full of toys and hidey-holes that the Kadoaties could never get bored. The Kadoaties were very sought after petpets, and only the richest pets in all of Neopia could afford to own one. In fact, Kadoaties were so rare that most Neopets had never actually seen one in person, and they would flock to the Kadoatery to feed the petpets any food they desired through the bars. The Kads knew each other well; their owners were rich and important Neopets that were often away on business or holiday, leaving them in the care of the Kadoatery Crew. Zug and Ziv were there most frequently; they were twin green Kads that wore different coloured bow ties so they could be told apart, however those that knew them would never get the quiet Zug confused with his loud-mouthed brother. Currently they were the only Kads awake; another few were asleep in their rooms and they knew more were on their way. Every year on the 5th day of the Month of Relaxing, Baroness Oakhill hosted the wealthiest and most notable figures in Neopia aboard her magnificent ship for a weeklong cruise, and all of the guests would be bringing their precious Kads to the Kadoatery to be looked after for the duration. “… and I bet the Giant Omelette isn’t even that big, I mean, I’ve heard that they run out of food like, all the time, and how can it be different flavours all at the same time? Maybe I’ll ask Jurgis, she’s Tyrannian so she ought to know, and another thing…” “Ssshh!” interrupted Zug. Ziv paused for a second, “…what? I don’t hear anything. Now where was I…”

"Caught in The Middle" by clemsonrowing
L ooking up at Alvina, I smile as I hand over my latest find: a Bubbling Fungus. Alvina and I have worked together for years now. She knew me back in my poor days when I was nothing special; just a blue skeith with no neopoints to my name. Part of my financial success and climb up the social ladder is due to my dealings with Alvina. By completing quests for her daily, I was able to afford a wraith paint brush to make myself stand out like I always dreamed of, all the while creating a decent savings account at the National Neopian Bank. I am still far from my goal of becoming a millionaire, but I refuse to settle for being anything other than the best. My mind is quickly brought back to the present as Alvina hands over my usual payment: 10,000np and a Eo Codestone. She speaks as I rush to put my payment in the small satchel I always carry while I work. “Guzalu, I believe that was the fastest quest you’ve ever completed for me,” she looks down at the watch on her wrist with a smile, “twenty-four minutes. This is why I always call you first when I need something quickly.” “You know how much I value our business relationship, I don’t think I would be where I am today if it weren’t for your help throughout the years,” I tell her honestly. She looks down at me thoughtfully before turning and going deeper into her lair. “Sorry if I don’t seem quite myself today,” she starts, a small smile forming on her face as she returns to her usually controlled self. “We’ve known each other for years now, and you know how much I dislike my sister. Well, I think she is up to her usual tricks, which I’m sure only means trouble for me. I may be a dark faerie, but I am nowhere near as evil as she.” She nods towards the door, her arm extending out towards it. “Thanks for your help today, make sure to return tomorrow for another quest.” Heading towards the door, I promised that I would be back tomorrow.

"Just Another Day" by grimmbones7
I walked in to the bank with Archie as I do every day. I collected my daily interest, waved to the Skeith, and walked out the door. As I turned the corner to go check my shop till, I noticed a forlorn looking Kadoatie. Archie leaned down and the little Kadoatie wandered over and mewed. "Mom, mom can we keep him?!" "He looks lost, why don't we drop him at the Kadoatery?" "Aw… okay mom." We dropped him off and the staff put him in the back with the other mewing Kadoaties. Archie and I stopped at my shop to pick up the day's earnings, which was nice and big because of all the Neggs I restocked! Then we headed off to pick up a petpet from Grave Danger. Then we headed to Altador. When we got to the Council Chamber to collect our prize for finishing the plot, I heard a mew. Beside Jerdana's chair is the Kadoatie! I couldn't believe it. "Look mom, he followed us. He wants to come home with us!" "Sorry little man, maybe another time" We left the Kadoatie with the council and headed back over the mountain to Haunted Woods. Archie tried apple bobbing, but came up feeling dizzy. We trekked down into the swelting desert to hit those ones. He spun the fruit machine slot and won a White Paint Brush and 15,000 NP! "This is the best prize we've ever won from here mom, we need to keep him!" "Sorry buddy. You already have a petpet!" "Fine." We sought out wisdom from Coltzan's Shrine and found a buried scroll in the sand. He tried throwing darts in Kiko Lake, but almost hit a Kiko because something bumped his leg. This Kadoatie was definitely following us... Archie just gave me a pleading look. We trekked to Brightvale to try to impress King Hagan, but he didn't think we were very bright. So we tried to humour King Skarl, and he laughed hysterically! He gave us some stew and a bag of neopoints. The Kadoatie thought the jingling bag was a toy so he batted at it while I carried it out. We went to visit the Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity. Archie waited around and he started playing with the Kadoatie.

The Greatest Show In Neopia!: Part Three
The small grass hut rang with laughter as the four Neopian friends talked and joked together deep into the starry night. Kadar and Connie had found their missing companion, Jarvis, eating from a huge bowl of Bone Soup that had been offered to him by the incredibly hospitable mutant Krawk.
