Post-Performance Routine Supplies

by greyorangegrey

--------

So your Neopet has moved into the theatre for the run of a new production. They have brought everything they need for the rehearsals and shows like costumes and makeup and their lucky charm is already sitting on the dressing table in front of the mirror decorated with letters from Neofriends and photos from that trip to Kreludor you took two years ago.

But what about their needs afterwards? Depending on your Neopet’s post-performance routine, these are some of the supplies you may want to buy them.

      -----

      Icing

The cold verb, not the yummy noun.

This one is particularly for the Neopets who are dancing on stage. This process is to reduce swelling and stop inflammation. The Neopian Bazaar's Grooming Parlour offers a fun range of icepacks. Choose from a Bori, Mutant Hissi (this long pack is nicely shaped for limbs or for wrapping around necks), Usul, or Wocky (the shape of this one is a great fit on the midsection of most species).

Swollen feet can make putting on shoes difficult the next day, and sometimes this build-up of fluid makes it hard to feel the floor. A popular method to combat this is an ice bucket. A simple Red Bucket from the furniture shop will do. Fill it up with ice blocks and water and have your Neopet sit down and dip their feet/flippers in, all the way up to their knees (if they have them), providing their ankles and calves relief too. They can either do this by directly dipping into the water, or you can wrap them in a big plastic bag first, avoiding actual contact and preventing the ice and water from getting their fur and skin wet.

      Foot Bath

On the other hand (or foot?), if your Neopet has been on their feet for 2+ hours, delivering monologues or arias, or both, they might enjoy playing with the Steaming Wooden Foot Bath, generously given out during the Advent Calendar in Y20. Honey Bubble Bath can be added to the water for its moisturising properties, not to mention the sweet smell. Plus, the combination of honey and steam can soothe a throat that is sore from too many soliloquies and singing.

      Cleaning off makeup

Kau Milk Face Wash or a Hypoallergenic Facial Cleanser (for my fellow sensitive Neopians) are both excellent options for washing off all those layers of heavy pancake makeup, which has to be applied thick. It not only provides a clean uniform base for the stage makeup, but it also masks the redness one normally associates with physical exertion, which also plays a part in helping make a performance look effortless.

Some like to use oil as a way to remove the stubborn makeup... but this method can be very messy and it can stain costumes, so please be careful! Exquisite Ambrosia stocks a neatly bottled Flask of Olive Oil, or pick up a Can of Oil as an alternative for Robot pets.

While they're in front of the mirror, a Soft Rainbow Brush is excellent for untangling fur if it's been in a bun or under a wig or hairpiece the entire show.

      Journalling

A blank notebook is great to have on hand, so your Neopet can record their thoughts, feelings and experiences while it's still fresh in their mind.

While the director may have notes for them before the next performance, they can give themselves some too. Write about what they'd like to improve the next time, what they think they could try differently, what they were proud of.

The Royal Gelert Diary is a beautiful choice, but if your Neopet is prone to misplacing items, go with the Diary (a retired but cheap buy which doesn't require a key), or a Chia Journal (it comes with a pencil and pencil holder to keep it in place).

Who knows, maybe their journal could be published someday!

      Signing autographs

A Neverending Fountain Pen is a must when running into fans waiting by the stage door. The classic black ink won't run or bleed, and you'll only need to ever buy one. But special markers can, in turn, make an autograph special. A Doglefox Marker is a fun option for that -- the orange ink is sure to make that signature stand out!

      Physical manteinance

Some Neopians are exhausted after shows, some are energised.

If your pet is the former, you can probably find them lying flat on their back in the dressing room after a show. Why not invest in a rug or mat so they don't dirty their clothes (which you saved so much NP for), and invest in some headphones to drown out the hallway noise and/or give them something relaxing to listen to.

If your pet is the latter, get them A Lifetime Membership Card and take them to Grundo's Gym to get in a light workout so they don't have too hard a time falling asleep back in their Neohome.

Also, sometimes, depending on the production and your Neopet's role (like the classic example of being a tree who doesn't move or have any lines), they might not feel like they've really accomplished something out there on the stage that day. A high-intensity post-show workout can help with that feeling.

Stretching is an absolute must! It is a wonderful practice for unwinding the mind and for looking after the muscles. Have your Neopet follow the easy diagrams in a book (like the recent release, Buzz Yoga with Osielle Lidel) in the comfort of their dressing room or Neohome, or attend one of the classes on at the gym.

      -----

Your Neopet may be the type who does all of these activities, or they may do one or none. Like the rituals before the performance, what a Neopet does afterwards can be quite individualistic. No one will know what your pet needs better than they do when it comes to keeping in good health and in high spirits for the performances to come.
