Edna's Nursery Rhyme Time

by sylas23

--------

Greetings Neopians of far and wide! Welcome to Edna’s Spooky Nursery Rhyme Time! Once a year in the month of Collecting, Neopets gather around the campfire and listen to wonderful ghost nursery rhymes! So all of you Halloween loving Neopets wander deep into The Haunted Woods and enjoy this year’s Nursery Rhyme Time!

The first nursery rhyme tonight will be about a dear old friend of mine, in the early stages of his life! Please enjoy the telling of The Halloween Draik:

“Hear a tale of a brave little draik

Who craved a scary Halloween night

Who dreamed for all of the thrills

As he cheered "bring on the fright"

Often the old adage rings true

Be careful what you're wishing for

Perhaps you'll get what you wanted

But most cases you often get more

The poor little draik had no idea

Of the dangers he walked right into

One wrong turn now his first encounter

With the legendary Count Von Roo

The sad little whelp that tried to come out

The terrified throat of that poor little draik

The Count landed softly on to the ground

Blocking off any means of escape

Von Roo cackled twice and smoke surrounded the place

The draik's eyes grew big as he let out a scream

Count Roo was gone when the haze had all cleared

In the aftermath the draik was painted Halloween!”

I see some of you enjoyed that nursery rhyme, and others it frightened! *cackles* Hold on to your trick-or-treat bags because this next Nursery Rhyme is my ABSOLUTE favourite for very obvious reasons! It’s the telling of the fairest, more beautiful, best Neopian who ever lived! It’s an homage to, of course, yours truly! Edna’s Haunted Tower:

“There's an old spooky tower deep in The Haunted Woods

Here lives an old zafara who probably could

Turn you into a mortog without much of a hitch

I'm talking about Edna the Witch!

Most of the time she's brewing a spell

You need to come see her if you're feeling unwell

She'll whip up a tonic with the speed of a flash

Hopefully you don't experience too much backlash

She can't do it alone, none of us can

She might ask you to lend her a hand

Her quests can be daunting based on what she needs

But you could get an avatar for your good deeds

Just don't expect it when you finish the quest first

That cunning old zafara makes you prove your worth

I had a friend who had to do one hundred quests

But finally received the avatar, thanks to Edna's requests

So if you happen to be in the spooky part of town

And feel like helping Edna, then come on around

To the creepy little tower where this little witch lives

So much character to Neopia she gives!”

HUSH DOWN CHILDREN BEFORE I TURN YOU ALL INTO MORTOGS MYSELF! Have you no respect for your elders! How dare you laugh during the best nursery rhyme of the night! Anyways I will continue on, only if you collect yourselves! You really will want to hear this next one. It is about a wonderful day trip through one of my personal favourite places The Haunted Fairgrounds. Stroll Through the Fairgrounds:

     “Deep in the haunted Woods

Lies a haunted fairground of the spooky kind

With games you can play til the dawn of the day

And any spooky food you can find

You must try the ghost doughnuts

     Truthfully they're the best around

Or a side of grundo stix could give you your fix

So I beckon you forth, come enter The Haunted Fairgrounds.

Arnold is there to give you a scare

And of course to test your strength

Give it your best go, don't hit it slow

A grand prize score could be in your fate

And of course that creepy old quiggle

Who is in charge of the coconut shy

Give your ball a twirl, and give it your best whirl

Watch the coconut fall and take home the grand prize

Don't forget to stop by and play bagatelle

Harker will be here, to give you a hand

He swears it's not rigged, and you could win big

So toss your mootix and see where it lands

As you leave the park, make sure you go visit Sidney

That clever old nimmo who is never dull

His game is not hard you just scratch a card

And hope you win big like a moehog skull”

Hehehehehe! I know all of you enjoyed that little gem. If you have not made your way to The Haunted Fairgrounds by now then shame on you! Especially in the month of Collecting, where it has all its biggest attractions! Anyways, the next nursery rhyme is in spirit to Halloween and the entire month of Collecting. This is the best month of the entire year in Neopia, and it always flies by! Please enjoy: The Spookiest Month of the Year:

“Spooky pets of all sorts and types!

     Come alive! Tonight's your night.

The moon glows bright joining the stars

The werelupes howl into the dark

A mutant kacheek's brain starts to pulse

Don't run and scream, fight your impulse

Count Von Roo takes his bat form

Other bats join, they make a swarm

The sound in the air: "Trick-or-Treat"

As kind neopians give our their sweets

Their goodie bags fill, stuffed to the top

They'll munch it all down, every drop!

Have you ever met Hubrid Nox

A frightful creature, but has a neat puzzle box

His blue skin would give you a chill

If you stared too long it could make you ill

They say Halloween is an exceptional night

Where The Brain Tree is especially bright

I recommend doing his quest on this day

With a high score you could run away.

Celebrate Halloween with your most spooky friends

The one night a year where frights never end

Join in on the fun, hang your skeleton wreath

Don't eat too much candy, think of your poor teeth!”

(Edna claps her hands in delight, before cackling loudly)

I hope you all enjoyed the telling of this year’s Nursery Rhyme Time. Please remember to tell all your friends about next year’s telling! I’ve prepared a nice little tonic for all of you to enjoy on your way out! EXCEPT THE RUDE LITTLE CHIA WHO CALLED ME MOTHER GOOSE! HOW DARE YOU WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS!

*Ahem* Anyways, please see yourselves out of my tower and enjoy your spooky night in The Haunted Woods. Come and see me in the future to be rewarded handsomely for fetching a few simple ingredients!
