Notable Poogles and Techos

Techo

The Techo species are bipedal and average 60cm tall. These gregarious creatures love being the centre of attention and due to their agile nature can perform acrobatic stunts for a crowd. The 13th day of the month of Gathering has long been known as Techo Day. Shopkeepers all over Neopia celebrate by stocking new items resembling or acknowledging the species.

If we're lucky we'll also see the arrival of a new colour or two around the rainbow pool. Some of my favourite Techo colours currently available include Camouflage, Desert, Disco, Faerie, and Royal.

You may recognise some of these Techos from around Neopia....

     Shopkeepers

Alabaster Chesterdrawers runs the antique shop in Neovia, here you can find a variety of goods for your neohome, they all have a vintage style.

If you're hungry pay a visit to the next two Techos, the Tropical food shopkeeper or the Qasalan Delights shopkeeper. Both have an assortment of goods you may find exotic if you usually hang out in the Neopian food shop. The Tropical Food shop in Mystery Island is especially popular during Gadsgadsbogen in the month of Running.

Our final shopkeeper provides all you could need for back to school; pens, pencils, highlighters, chalk, erasers, maths equipment, a case to put them in, notepads, folders, staplers, and sticky tape to name but a few. You'll probably need more than one backpack to put everything in!

      Games

Techo have powerful legs and their tail helps with balance so no wonder they are often part of official Altador Cup teams.

Currently playing for Meridell as a forward is "Wizard" Windelle, and defending for Maraqua is Barit Jowes. Maital Koric did play for the Mystery Island team, but only for one season due to injuries. Wan Dirx played as a defender for Haunted Woods for 8 years and won the Best Rookie award in his first year of play.

While he isn't a team player, the Techo Fanatic featured in Make Some Noise certainly has enthusiasm!

Bowe is a very muscular Techo featured in Shenkuu River Rush, you need a lot of strength to ride those rapids.

Cheeserolling may sound like a sedate game, but in reality, it's all high octane thrills as you guide a cheese wheel down a steep Meridell hill. After pushing your chosen cheese from the top you need to dive left or right to avoid rocks, branches, and holes costing you time out of your one minute allowance to make it to the finish line.

A laid back island Techo mans the Buzzer Game stand. Keep focused on guiding your hoop over the metal wire as he tries to distract you by flicking his tongue and changing the colour of his eyes.

The Techo Thief, a red Techo, was featured in Trouble at the National Neopian. This sneaky thief isn't even listed as a villain to look out for!

Food Club is located in the Warf Wharf of Krawk Island. A number of pirates compete in a daily eating competition and you can bet on the outcome. Three Techos compete; Sir Edmund Ogletree favours dairy foods and dislikes breads, Federismo Corvallio loves gross foods and pizza and hates smoothies, Franchisco Corvallio enjoys spicy food and meat and dislikes candy. The last two are brothers.

There is also the scientist who is featured in Scourge of the Lab Jellies, where multiplying jellies threaten to take over Neopia!

     Plots

Harry the explorer wasn't technically invited to Rufus' Year 5 Gadsgadsbogen party, but they let him and his sidekick Blooplum join in anyway, Neopians were given a few clues and had to work out which party guest ate what fruit, drank which cocktail, wore what colour skirt and the height they managed to limbo.

Known as 'the thief' Kelland is a protector of Altador and has a statue in the Hall of Heroes to commemorate the fact that he gave Tor the lupe a sword...

There is also a tale in the book of ages of how he reformed his ways and King Altador asked him to join his council.

Tekel, also known as Tekeli-Li is a Tyrannian elder who is a master of spells and potions. He played a part in the Tyrannian invasion plot and now spends his time playing GoGoGo.

     Other

No guide to Techos would be complete without a mention of the great Techo Master. Residing on Mystery Island this Techo has taught many Neopets that have come through the doors of his training school.

Skalpo sells tickets to shows at the Tyrannian Concert hall from his ticket booth.

Tekkitu the witch doctor can be found in the Battledome

The Nefarious Plotter is a member of a mysterious organisation known as The Sway. You can fight him in the battledome.

Tellhan (space Techo) and Bug Eye Mcgee are both featured on collectable cards

Dr. Death is well known to Neopians, he will take your pet off your hands should you decide to abandon them.

     Poogle

Poogles are quadrupedal and average 40cm tall. They were originally found in the northern areas of Neopia, they are quite at home on the snowy slopes of Terror Mountain, but can be happy anywhere. Cute and cuddly by appearance but with razor-sharp teeth for defence.

Poogles are limited edition pets so can only be created on Poogle Day which is celebrated on the 19th day of Gathering. Let's take a look at some of the more well known Poogles...

     Games

Poogles feature in a variety of games, perhaps most well known is the iconic Poogle Races of Faerieland. Every 15 minutes 5 Poogles set off as fast as they can round a track with hurdles. Neopians can bet on the outcome and even feed their racer a food item before the race.

Separate but similarly named is a group of daredevils who call themselves The Poogle Racers. Poogles compete in extreme races to win a place in the elite team of 8 who then meet up monthly. Moogi is one of the team and has a Neopedia article about how he got on the team. Neoquest features a Poogle armorsmith called Choras Tille

The Poogle apprentice featured in Hubrids Hero Heist must save six heroes trapped in different levels while being attacked by various enemies such as werelupes, ghost chias, mutant kacheeks, and a dark faerie.

One of Neopia's newer games is Coal War Tactics, where you can side with Baron Goldnose the Mynci or Madam Salt the Poogle. The aim of the game is to find your opponent's minecarts and blow them up before they find all of yours.

Trapper Remis was Captain of the Altador team participating in the Altador cup for thirteen years.

      Plots

Featuring in the clockwork negg plot was Rutu. To protect the clockwork negg a group of five devised between them that some would hide decoy neggs throughout Neopia, the puzzle was to use clues to find who took the real negg where. Rutu was a botanist by trade and had always wanted to visit Shenkuu so she took the real clockwork negg there.

Blooplum the Poogle is Harry's (The Techo explorer) sidekick, he featured with him in the Gadsgadsbogen puzzle.

      Other

First we have two business moguls that have made a name for themselves in the stock market, Alan Poogleton is the director of operations for Chiatech Password Security (CHPS) and Lou Poogleman is the founder of The Shoyru Company (TSRC).

Moving onto the arts we have Alstaf Poogle whose poetry is celebrated across Neopia. Alstaf used to be a well-known face around The Art Centre, but after relocation to Roo Island less has been seen of him, some speculate the cheerful mood of the island doesn't mesh well with his literary muse. Despite this, he still reads every single entry to the poetry contest and spotlights the ones he deems worthy.

We hope to see some new colours to celebrate Poogle day, some of my favourite existing colours are Candy, Christmas, Eventide, and Speckled.

Don't forget, on your species special day Cap'n Threelegs offers free training at his pirate academy for those under level 40.

Thank you to Jellyneo and their Book of Ages
