Mira's Tips & Guides to Space Exploration

by miist

--------

Good day! In this article, we will talk about different academic achievements Mira has accomplished. You know Mira, right? She’s the Space Faerie. She’s most often soaring outside the atmosphere, protecting Neopia from the dangers from deep in the unknown fields of space. She has a book, Miras Travels Through Space: An Autobiography. But what most people don’t know is that she’s written several other books on the contents of space.

Right, so let's start by asking yourself, "Do I want to go into Space?" “Can I be an explorer like Mira?” Your answer may be YES! Well, if you have any interest in Space travel or Space in general, we recommend starting with Mira's first publication, Space Exploration Guide, This is probably the most helpful book if you plan on space travel or just want to learn what’s in every corner of the galaxy. The Space Faerie has spent years travelling and observing to collect data in order to write this book. It details almost all of her explorations for your knowledge and your entertainment.

"I've always wanted to go into space and when I had the chance, I knew I wanted to share my explorations with everyone"

     - Mira

Once you’ve finished familiarizing yourself with Space, the following books are must-reads before you take off; Space Rocks: A Visual Encyclopedia, Mathematics in Space, and The Galaxy Book. You’d definitely want a copy of these books to ensure your safety through Space. Space Rocks: A Visual Encyclopedia is a great guide if you’re interested in geology. Who’s more qualified to teach you about the different types of rocks in space but the Space Faerie herself. You’ll not only learn to identify each rock by helpful pictures and drawings, but you’ll learn the best way to organize the rocks if you decide to embark on that hobby. Next is Mathematics in Space; this book is so popular that it has become a regular textbook in Kreludan schools. Math is a very important part of safely spending time in space. The Space Faerie helped the Kreludan elders with the solutions, while she’s not the sole author, it could not have been completed without her. Lastly is another collection of answers about space that will leave you feeling as if you know the secrets of the universe. Though The Galaxy Book focuses on this galaxy, it’s nice getting answers to all the questions you have about the wonders of space closest to your home.

Now how to dress and what to pack for Space, you ask? Like on Neopia you do want to look good to whoever - or whatever you may come across. Luckily for you, Mira has written a book on fashion so you may want to pick one up before you start packing. Space Fashions (not to be confused with Space Fashion written by another author named Mira) gives you advice on what you should wear in space and about the ensembles the Space Faerie has already seen. Neopia meets Space! Mira brings trendy Neopian fashion and cosmotastic vibes together that are out-of-this-world and down-to-Neopia. Obviously what she deems important is probably the best route to go, I mean just look at what she's wearing!

So far, you’ve familiarized yourself with Space, you’ve read all the books on safety, you’ve picked out your favourite travel outfit and another to change into once you arrive at the spaceport. You might now want to read some local books on Space’s environment and its inhabitants. Our two favourite books to start are Grundos in Space and Lennies in Space. Grundos are meant to be in space. In this book, Mira details the daily life of your average grundo, working on the Virtupets Space Station and enjoying themselves in an environment most other species couldn’t survive in, much less thrive. Lennies… are not meant to be in space. Everything from their body proportions to their personalities, they don’t mix. Can you imagine a Lenny in a full spacesuit, working their way through all the issues you must quickly resolve with a calm demeanour when things go wrong in space? Trust me, things go wrong, especially when it’s a species that does not mix well with Outer Space...

While you’re there, don’t forget to check out some of the histories! In the past, Mira has come across the good and the bad of Space. Mira wrote Space and Magic, with beautiful illustrations that describe her close encounters with the Faerie Queen as well as how faerie’s magic differs from when they are in space. It’s really only relevant if you’re a faerie, but it’s an interesting read if you have the spare time. But also, Space is not all good, did you know that there is a giant space fungus that has been growing in space for thousands and thousands of years? Check out Attack of the Giant Space Fungus that documents its attempt to take over the world. This book comes with an interactive code so you can battle the Giant Space Fungus yourself! Coming from Space, Mira was directly involved in its defeat and she wrote this book documenting where it came from and the different tactics it attempted to achieve world domination. You may even want to visit the tourist viewpoint and check it out, but don’t stand too close!

While you’re up there, you’ll want to check out some of the stars! Space is full of new and old, beautiful constellations. See if you can spot Neopia from up there. In Binary Stars and You, Mira describes what Binary Stars are and explains how they’re quite an amazing phenomenon. In this inspiring book, not only will you learn more about the workings of space, but you’ll find how it’s all connected to your daily life. This book comes with 5 colour pages for the young and old souls. The stars are a great help if you ever happened to be lost. Combined with Stuck in Space and Mathematics in Space, you shouldn’t have a problem finding your way back home. Like any first-time explorer, you are bound to get lost. Mira wrote Stuck in Space and boy, did The Space Faerie certainly had fun with this one. Contacting all those who have been stuck in space to get their own accounts of the horror they felt when they got stranded. Of course, each story has a heroic ending of how each Neopet made it back to Neopia safely, whether or not Mira had a hand in their success is a question not addressed in this book. Make sure if you have a copy handy for any advice you need when you get lost - let’s hope it does not come to that!

I hope you are getting excited to go into Space! If you are a shopaholic, don’t forget to visit Mira’s Gift Shop (yes, named after our Mira - she is the most famous Space Faerie after all.) The gift shop is full of trinkets and books! A serious collector’s item is the Ultimate Space Chronicles Set. Instead of spending your time looking for each individual book, this 10-volumes book comes in a beautiful box made from Kreludor rock but it’s surprisingly light and won’t destroy your bookcase. It describes a hypothetical crew travelling through space loosely based on Mira’s own travels and close calls with the dangers that await anyone who ventures too far. Remember the brief history between good and bad? You can now relive history by reading Mira’s fiction novel, Space Faerie vs Dr. Sloth - The Novel. This book describes the fight to stop an evil mastermind from taking over Neopia. If you’ve been around long enough, you may remember the epic battle between these two characters. Mira had to thwart the highly intelligent Dr. Sloth. This novel will reveal all the juicy secrets that were kept from the general public. For peace of mind, really. Give it a second thought if you really want to know all the horrors this will unravel.

And maybe something fun for the young’ns? Every young Neopian loves a good Space hero story. The Pea from Outer Space is an unknown story about a pea who came from outer space with the intent to take over Neopia. Needless to say, it’s attempts failed, Mira is a great protector. The Pea From Outer Space is a thrilling adventure which shows that just because you don’t get recognition for everything doesn’t mean your job isn’t important. The most important in the world on that given day. We’re pretty sure this will become a popular Halloween costume one day. Give the little ones a jump start in their learning of how Space and time work with Puzzles of Space. It provides answers to the mysteries of space in the kid-friendly method of fun games and puzzles. Space Exploration is passed off as a work of fiction, you may wonder where Mira came up with such an imaginative story. What she’ll never tell you is that it’s based on a group of explorers with the intent to go to the farthest reaches of the galaxies. She had to rescue this group of daredevils and in the process of learning their story decided that it was too good a tale not to share with the rest of Neopia.

Well, we hope you’ve learned a lot about Space and that Mira is more than just your common faerie. Despite having her plate full protecting the world from unseen dangers, she still takes time to write these informative, academic, and fun writings for you!
