Never Give Up- A Meerca Chase II Tale

by babyspongy

--------

I'm sure I'm not alone on this feeling of dread when you just get so close to the avatar score on a game and then suddenly, game over. The frustration we feel when we see that end card with our score just a few points shy of a new avatar and a higher avatar count. However, what about that satisfaction when you finally get it? That feeling of accomplishment when a new window pops up saying the famous, "Something has happened!" Sometimes all you need is a little break in between avatar game attempts, and you come back feeling refreshed and confident and boom, new avatar to your already impressive count.

One of the games that might make you feel this way is Meerca Chase II. You tell yourself, "I am going to conquer Meerca Chase II if it's the last thing I do on neo," and you sit down on your couch with a cup of water and your imaginary headband and you're ready to conquer it. And sure you look at that score 1,250 and you're just flabbergasted on how long it's going to take you to get that score and you look at the high score table and see score of 2,000+ and you see that it totally is possible to get that score and above! So you go ahead and start the game after typing the code for gravity mode and the Meerca is off collecting these neggs. You get closer and closer to the avatar score and then suddenly, a red negg appears out of nowhere or you crash into a wall trying to get that final negg you need, and you see Game Over.

At this precise moment, you should take a step back and drink some water to calm that fire in your soul. Step away from the avatar game and go on other parts of this wonderful website. There's the option to shop your heart out with a little retail therapy at the Uni's Clothing Store or new Battledome weapons, going on the boards and chatting with lovely Neopians to release your frustrations to others who feel the same, or you could explore the lands and think of your ultimate dreamy pet. After all is said and done and you've calmed down and you have a whole lot of people rooting for you on the Avatar Chat boards, you decide it's time to conquer it again.

So you give yourself a pep talk, oh but you don't stop there, oh no, you include the Meerca too! "Listen here Meerca, you're going to avoid all the red neggs, you're going to hope that there's a fish negg in this level and you're going to do your absolute best," and then you take a deep breath, and off you go. You ignore the score on the bottom right of your screen because you know if you look at it, you'll get nervous. But here you are dodging the red neggs and you're doing amazingly well! And lo and behold, the Faerie Queen herself blesses your game with a fish negg and this is totally your time to shine! You start moving towards the fish negg knowing that this is the chance you have to finally strike that avatar from your Avatar Needed List and you're ready to show off this future avatar.

You go and you finally get the fish negg, that 900 point negg just allowed you to get the score you needed for the avatar. You try to contain your glee but you crash into a red negg, but it's okay, you have the score. You make sure you hit the Send Score button because how awful would it be to have to do all of that again? You wait and hope and cross your fingers asking Queen Fyora to allow the score to be processed and you close your eyes, take a deep breath and what do you see? You see a new event that popped up telling you "Something Has Happened! You are now eligible to use this avatar on the Neoboards" you contain your inner scream but you can't help to fist bump the air! You go on the Preferences section of the Neoboards, having already picked out the fonts and siggies and colors you would use to commemorate the moment you finally beat the game!

That board you created discussing your feelings on this particular game is still alive and you go ahead and post with your new avatar. That feeling of accomplishment when everybody is telling you, "I knew you could do it!" "Congratulations!" and "Way to go!" Posts make you realize that this game allowed you to come out of your shell and talk to people who feel the same way. You make neo friends for life because of this board.

So what's the lesson here? Whenever you get closer and closer to the avatar score, just know that one of those tries will allow you to go the extra mile to finally conquer that game and get a new avatar! Whenever you're feeling frustrated on a game, take a few steps back and calm down, it's still going to be there when you return, just don't give up! Go ahead and keep trying and you'll see that you will succeed eventually, you have a whole army of people cheering you on, and who knows, maybe you can lurk the boards and help out another person that felt the same way about this game. People on the boards can be super helpful in things like this giving advice, tips, and that extra push of confidence that can give you the motivation to succeed. And yes, this was all experienced by my person and I felt such glee when I finally posted on the board I created, "Hey guys, I did it!" That was a few months ago, and I can say I made amazing friends on this board that I still talk to daily. Go ahead and give it a try guys, Neopians from all around the world are rooting for you.
