Filling Your Trophy Cabinet

by katehoughtonbeckett

--------

I’ve written before about how I’m not the greatest at games but how I’ve always wanted to have a nice list of trophies that I have worked hard to earn. When you look for suggestions of ‘easy’ trophies, they’re often games like Cheat, Go! Go! Go! and the like. It’s true that some of these trophies are fairly easy to get, but it’s the flash games that those of us who struggle to score really want.

I have been doing my best to find the games that I, and others who aren’t great when it comes to games, can attain with just a little practice and timing everything just right. The games listed aren’t all flash games, but they’re trophies that aren’t always suggested as the easy-to-get ones.

Step One: Prepare

For some games, you need to prepare before trophy reset day. Some games require a little practice before jumping in, while for other trophies, like the Jhudora and illusen ones, you want to make sure that you can start your quests from level one.

For games, be sure to check out a few game guides so that you aren’t missing a code or tip that will help you get the trophy. Also check out TrophyTracker before you start playing so that you can know roughly what score you will need for a trophy. The real trick with getting a trophy isn’t insane gaming ability (though I’m sure that helps), but preparation.

Step Two: GAME ON!

Jhudora/Illusen

Most people have played a few of these quests before, especially those who are avatar collectors. The key to get these trophies is to be really quick with your quests, and try for the next one as soon as possible (i.e. 12 hours later). You won’t be able to get a trophy if you are doing quests for both faeries in the same month, so pick one and stick with that. Progress as far through the quests as you can, and gradually you should get closer to the top, assuming you aren’t lucky early on. Try to have the shop wizard open and ready in another window before you even attempt your quest so that it will take you as little time as possible. Once you have one faerie, try for the other the next month.

Ugga Drop

Ugga Drop is a fairly simple game. You are lined up on a rock and have to jump off and land safely with your parachute. Ugga Drop is one of those great games that has a maximum score, so if you win each round and do not have any false starts, you will get a gold, even at the end of the month. Be careful with pressing the space bar to jump so that you don’t accidentally launch off too soon, like I did, or you will be left with a silver trophy. Sure, silver is great… but it isn’t gold!

Hannah and the Kreludor Caves

As one of the only Hannah games that actually works for the vast majority of people, there is a lot of competition. The key with this game, however, is to play smart. Did you know that you don’t have to play the game through? You can play any level that you have previously played at any point. Use this to your advantage and play one of the easier levels over and over until your score is high enough to get you a trophy. I like to play a combination of levels, but the vast majority of my points are generated in level 3. Keep in mind that the review score for this game is 43,000 points, so if you are impatient and don’t want to wait for your score to be checked, be sure to score under the 43,000 threshhold.

Bonus: If you are one of the lucky ones who can play the other Hannah games, be sure to try them out and aim for a trophy. With so little people able to access the games, you don’t need a fantastic score to get a trophy.

Wheeler’s Wild Ride

Yes, this game can be really difficult… but bear with me. The key to a trophy is the tricks. Even if you were to play through the full game, you wouldn’t get a trophy unless you did the tricks. The good part of this is that you can get a great score very early on in the game. Ideally, you want to play the game through to level 2-3 and save as many coconuts as you can. This means playing safe whenever possible. It might take you a bit of practice, but you will get there. You should have around 40-80 coconuts here. What you need to do is do wheelies in one spot for the entire time and, with a few seconds to go, crash the bike by holding the arrow key down until the bike flips over. Rinse and repeat until you have your desired score.

Dueling Decks

The first time playing this game, you will probably be a little confused, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll probably learn to love it. It’s not an overly difficult game, though it may become a little tedious if you are particularly good at it, so it is worth giving it a try when you’re looking for a new trophy. Keep in mind that the game isn’t timed, so you can really take your time if you need to. Don’t stress!

The Castle of Eliv Thade

Okay, so you want tedious? Eliv Thade is totally tedious if you are looking for a trophy. Ideally, you won’t have the avatar when you aim for a trophy, so you can get both done at once. To get a high score, keep playing after entering all the rooms, but before entering the final one. This will mean you can increase your score. If you are having trouble with the anagrams, check out an anagram solver online. You may even find a Neopets-centric one to help you out! This trophy will take a while, so it is definitely worth trying to get a higher score than you think you will need, just to be safe.

Better Than You

Unlike other games on this list, you won’t get a trophy for this on the first (unless it falls on the right day). Each week, a different game is selected and you have to beat a certain score. The first 500 people will get trophies, so you do have to get in quick for the gold and silver. There are no real hints for this, other than to keep an eye out when a new game is picked for Better than You. Sometimes the score is much too hard for 500 people to beat, but other times the score is easy enough that it is beaten within a day. Have a try every week and you may just get lucky.

Faerie Caves II - Fyora’s Quest

This game is tricky at first, but once you get your head around it, you will find it gets a lot easier. Practice is definitely the key. There are a number of guides out there and they will definitely help you. It has a maximum score of 1520, so if you can get that, you should be able to get a trophy for it. As it is a maximum score game, this doesn’t need to be done when the trophies reset, so save this one for later in the month.

Dungeon Dash

This game is another maximum score game, so if you can get 5000 points, you will be looking at a new gold trophy. You will need a lot of practice, but I’m sure that you can do it! I have faith in you! To get 5000, you will need to be playing as AAA not Abby. Be sure to check out a guide to help work out some of the tips and tricks that will help you.

NeoQuest I and II

So I’ve never played these, but many friends have. Play through the games and you will get yourself a trophy. There are plenty of guides for them, so find one that looks good and work through it. This doesn’t need to be done at the beginning of the month, either, and you can take your time with it.

Step Three: Wait

Hopefully, you will get a trophy when trophies are given out on the first of the month. If you’re not, don’t let that stop you. Keep trying, but just be aware that the scores will probably get progressively higher throughout the month. If you don’t succeed, keep practicing the game and try again next month.

Don’t limit yourself to these games, either! Check out your list of high scores and see what games you are pretty good at by looking for ‘Grand Master’. Think about what games you enjoy playing as well, and have a look at the scores you will need for a trophy. You may find that a game other people struggle with is one you are naturally good at, so you might just have a much-coveted trophy waiting for you to give it a go!

Any other games you think are fairly easy to get a trophy for? Let me know!

Beneath the Haunted Woods: Part Four
Nothing but the sounds of crumbling stones and rock could be heard as Arthur traversed the dark, hollow tunnel, his hand against the wall to keep himself from slipping over the rough, jagged ground beneath him. The red Zafara’s legs ached, his head throbbed and his eyes weary. Small, loose stones that littered the cave floor pinched, stabbed and strained his feet with every step.
