The Quest for a KQ Accomplice

by emziie

--------

This week, for the first time, I was on my very own quest to find a Key Quest token. I went to the NC boards to find out which token people thought I should buy. Well, it turns out everyone had very different ideas! But overall, there are three things you should consider when purchasing a KQ token;
  • Appearance – Are you looking for a cute baby KQ token, or perhaps an evil accomplice?
  • Alignment – Each KQ token has a different alignment which rewards you when landing on certain squares. Which reward will be advantageous?
  • Cost – Can you buy the KQ token in the NC mall, or will you need to head over to the NC chat to find a trader?

Avid KQ players may well choose their token based on its alignment, while keen NCers are more likely to choose a token for the item that comes with it. All I know is that the majority of people, be it KQ players or NC chatters, all seem to base their decision largely on the token's appearance. But is there more to the tokens than meets the eye?

Disclaimer: These tokens do not possess magical KQ abilities, and no token will make you win. To win, you have to have a little bit of skill and a lot of power-up luck.

Cupid Shoyru

Alignment: Air

A favourite among collectors, this cute little guy hovers like an elegant hummingbird. If you play your cards right, he might shoot your opponent with an arrow in the hopes of wooing them. Although that might not be such a good plan; you wouldn't want to injure your opponent now, would you?

Lucky players who got this token long ago received an adorable Flying Cupid Shoyru Toy. Buy hey, if you get this token now you still get a pretty Cupid Garland. This token is valued at 8-12+ caps, so it will set you back a bit in your NC balance. If you don't frequently get or trade NC, it might be a better idea to go for a buyable token.

Eliv Thade

Alignment: Dark

Eliv Thade possesses analytical powers, so perhaps he will be a good accomplice in analysing the other players strategy? Well, he might be able to if the Key Quest game was at all predictable, but as we all know the powers of Key Quest are much greater than a single KQ token.

That being said, Eliv Thade is a worthy investment at a 6-8 cap value. And you'll get a spooky Eliv Thade Castle Background, although the description of this item does suggest you could get stuck there for all eternity. You wouldn't want to miss your next turn at Key Quest, would you?

Faerie Aisha

Alignment: Air

The Aisha has a natural gift for all things magical, and there certainly are a lot of magical squares on those Key Quest boards! The question is, will that magic be helpful or harmful? Maybe her magical power is, in fact, to charm the other players with her beauty.

Best of all, this lovely token is still buyable in the NC mall, so for those of you without a wealth of NC, this token is very achievable. You can dazzle your opponents with the Dazzling Faerie Rainbow that you get for unlocking this pretty token.

Halloween Kacheek

Alignment: Dark

It is said that the Kacheek's calmness has helped many find fortune, but could this character's modesty and peaceful nature prevent a sneaky win? We may never know.

This token was Limited Edition, and a very popular character. He even comes with the sought after Gauze And Barbats Garland. You might need to pry this one from the hands of an NC trader.

Cloud Kougra

Alignment: Air

Now I'm not usually a fan of the cloud colour for pets, but this has to be my favourite KQ token. The Kougra's large paws are great for pouncing, so use them wisely and you might just be able to pounce on to your opponents square and steal a win.

This is another buyable KQ token, so a perfect choice for those with less NC. What's more, this little guy is not only cute, but he comes with an adorable little Blue Cirrus Plushie for your pet to snuggle up to!

Christmas Bruce

Alignment: Light

Feeling festive? The Bruce is a popular choice for the Christmas season. The Bruce possesses a remarkable sense of balance, so this cheery little token could stop you being thrown off balance and back to your home square. He might even hypnotise your opponent with his cute wobbling around.

The Christmas Bruce is probably not the easiest of tokens to find as it's a Limited Edition release, and currently trades at around a 4+ cap value. If you manage to get your hands on this little guy, though, you'll be rewarded with the stunning Pristine White Snowflake Stole.

Negg Faerie

Alignment: Air

Maybe the Negg Faerie will bring her charm and help you earn more neggs? Well, I doubt she is that powerful on the daunting Key Quest board. Still, the Negg Faerie is known for raising her prices, so maybe she will help you get the best prices for your hard earned neggs.

This lovely lady trades at around a 4 cap value, a modest value for a Faerie who loves to increase prices herself. Since being released, she now rewards you with a lovely Negg Faerie Dress, so your pet can look just like her!

Isca

Alignment: Water

It is said that Isca's dreams help her see into the future. This lovely lady might just be able to predict what your opponents next move might be. To be honest, even if she could your opponent might get lucky and stumble on a game changing power-up. *sigh*

Isca might just be one of the most sought after tokens ever. Not only is she worth 10+ caps, but she holds the illusive Isca Wig, worth a whopping 45-50+ caps. It's rare to see this token in the game, so relish the moment when you do.

Let's be honest, none of these tokens give you the power of Key Quest domination, but they do spruce up the game. If we all had that simple Red Meerca token, the Key Quest world would be a very boring place. So, what are you waiting for? Thank your lucky stars that TNT designed these wonderful tokens and go get your hands on one, now!
