Appreciating Autumn: It won't be a disappointment!

by nerdytiger

--------

As the sunny days turn to icy breezes, and the springy grass becomes a crunchy lawn beneath your feet, you have to begin to finally accept that Summer is over, and Autumn has arrived at last. The sun tan lotion and khaki shorts are abandoned in your summer closet, and all you can think about during the shorter days is returning to your cosy Neohome and a warm, delightful fire. Yet to say that Autumn time means your life is a little less active means that you aren’t being very open minded about the coming months at all. In fact, Autumn can be a blast!

Now, perhaps you are thinking, “Hah! That‘s where you are wrong, Neopian Times Writer Person! I can’t even play volleyball in this weather.”

Well, perhaps you can’t play volleyball in the Autumn air, but there are many things (that you may find just as fun) that you can enjoy this fall. Aside from the obvious events of Bonfire Night and Halloween, Autumn holds wonders of pleasurable hobbies for each and every day of the week. This guide will help you and your Neopet find something exciting, energising or maybe just perfectly relaxing to do this Autumn. Whether your little darling prefers running about in the open air, or sitting in a cosy café with a steaming mug of hot borovan, we are 99.9% sure you will put down this issue of the Neopian Times with a clearer idea of what activity your pet would love this fall!

The first fun-filled activity on our list is the classic ‘Leaf Catching Game’. It’s very simple, really. First, just wrap up in your warmest woollies, pull on your knitted mittens and a cosy hat. Next, call at your Neofriends’ houses and get a group of you together. (It’s more fun when more people play.) Then simply go on a short walk to find the finest tree you have seen in all of Neopia, just make sure it’s not evergreen! Research proves that the trees most effective and fun for leaf-catching are Autumn Birch Trees and Autumnal Bonsai. Once you are in position (hands up in front of you in a catching pose), all you have to do is wait for a gust of Autumn wind to send a bunch of brown leaves cascading their way down into your grip. If you manage to catch one, you are eligible to make a wish! (Please note: Leaf-wishing is far less reliable than wishing at the Wishing Well.) At the same time as having fun, you get a great amount of exercise, and a sense of pride when you manage to clasp your hands around a leaf. Perhaps to make the day last longer, pack a picnic in a basket and stop to enjoy a few Asparagus and Leek Sandwiches, or tasty treats like an Autumn Usuki Cake! All in all, you can have a fantastic day out that won’t heavily affect your bank balance!

The next activity on our list is a more relaxing pastime. How long has it been since you spent a long, enjoyable day at the Art Centre? Too long? In this warm, cosy and cave-like habitat, you’ll feel perfectly tranquil. Your young ones can sit comfortably around the roaring fire, listening to a new enchanting and electrifying tale at the Storytelling Circle. Meanwhile, the more creative Neopets may want to get more involved with the Centre, and take part in the Poetry Contest, or perhaps learn How To Draw. Then they can enter their masterpieces into the Art Gallery and put their talent to the test! The highlight of the Art Centre, however, is most definitely the charmingly wonderful Coffee Cave. From inside comes the most delightful scents of Spring Flower and Thornberry, mingled with the mouth-watering aromas of Purplum and Kabuggle. Once you pass the little café, you won’t be able to carry on as the beautiful fragrances lure you through the small wooden door. Teamed with their famous Amaretto Biscuits, the Cave’s drinks are world-class and affordable! What more could you ask for on a chilly Autumn day?

Our third and final Autumn activity is one that has been around for a while, but certainly needs highlighting as a possibility for Autumn. It is, of course, the classic game of Kacheek Seek. Not only is this game fun for all ages, but it is perfect for those cold days when the weather outside is far too bitter to venture out into. Kacheek Seek is a game for all ages, and many owners simply adore joining in with the fun! However, I must mention one big tip for Autumn Kacheek Seek: Play somewhere warm! Ah, yes. This way, Kacheek Seek is the perfect game to play while your coat is drying off by the cosy fire. There are plenty of places in which to play Kacheek Seek, even around your Neohome! For example, you could play in the kitchen. Simply tidy away all safety hazards and tempting chocolate cakes, then enjoy the fun! Is your little darling behind that large basket of fruit? Or maybe standing behind that flowery curtain over there?! No? Oh, I give up!

Just remember to have fun. A simple game can be made into the most memorable day simply by keeping a smile on your face and remembering that your pet appreciates your time. As an added bonus, Kacheek Seek could get you a smiley Kacheek avatar to show off when you want a good catch up with your Neofriends! What more could you ask for?

So there we have it; your complete guide to the top three activities you could try for enjoying Autumn up to its full potential. I sincerely hope you put down this issue of the Neopian Times feeling a renewed optimism about Autumn, and that you enjoy and appreciate this fall as much as you would any other season. Keep a smile on your Neopet’s face by making this Autumn the best they have ever had!
