Making the Perfect Neohome

by rebemwal

--------

Pretty much every Neopian struggles with this topic, “How do I create the best neohome”? It is one of the hardest tasks for some, and even most. How is it done? Well, you shall soon find out. Let's begin, shall we?

First of all, like all parents know when trying to move, you have to pick a good neighborhood. The best and most exclusive are the most expensive (e.g. Shenkuu, the most expensive, 13,000), while the cheaper ones are sort of dull (e.g. Neopia Central, the cheapest, 1,000). This can take anywhere from one hour to twenty four hours, but most likely twenty four hours. Please be patient with that. It is normal. But, if you decide to change your neighborhood, you have to sell your land, then change it to what you want. Now that you have your dream neighborhood, let's move along here; we still have lots of ground to cover.

Now you have to make rooms. This is hard for most people because when they want something like jelly walls for ten rooms, it costs about 7,500, so I would go with different walls for each room so that it is not as expensive. Or tatami walls; I won’t even go there. 70k (in case you didn’t know, k= thousand, so when someone says to you, “I will give you 20k for that paintbrush”, they mean 20,000) for ONE room! Only if you are immensely rich! But, to make the house even nicer, you need furniture that matches. Speaking of...

Have you ever seen hot pink walls with orange furniture? It doesn’t always look nice, does it? Or never looks nice for that matter. So if for some reason you want dung walls, if possible, you should probably try to have dung furniture. Or maybe even light brown, or another brown. Same with chocolate: brown furniture; you could attempt to find chocolate furniture, but you probably won’t get that far in your search, though. If you have straw walls or tatami walls, make a trip to the Tyrannian Furniture store. If you don’t find any, you can always find some stuff on the Shop Wiz (or shop wizard to the newbies), or of course, you could attempt to find complementing colors, like for jelly walls, maybe if it’s purple, purple beds and nightstands or couches. Using the above furniture guidelines, you will probably make the nicest neohome, especially if you have good items complementing the walls, which includes flooring.

Another thing about rooms, try to have a theme. For the week of New Years Eve, the Neohome spotlight went to kreativespirit. One of my favorite rooms of hers was her petpet room. She had lots of petpet toys, and even some petpets. The best part is, the walls were jelly, and she had a lot of rugs that were the same color as the walls. Another of my favorite rooms was her room that was cloud like purple walls. Her furniture was all purple, or had purple in them. Another was her holiday room. She had Christmas trees, green sofas, and other Christmas related objects. All together it looked completely awesome!

Other ways you can do that is to find something you like, or you have a large or medium sized collection of something, you can put all of that into a room. Or, try to get a lot of one-colored objects, and then put that into a room with the same colored walls and floors. But make sure it is a lot of that colored objects. When you have 25 orange objects, but then have them in a jelly walled room, it won’t look that nice.

Such as well, I won’t say whom, but it did happen. They had beautiful tatami walls, a great light brown color. But, they had tons of hot pink furniture, and Valentines Day stuff. Heart stained-glass windows, pink sofas, pink plushies, pink and red petpet toys. If it were in a pink or red walled room it would look good.

A big part of winning “Best Neohome award” is to have a lot of great rooms, with lots of great color, and great stuff. If you look at the current and past Best Neohomes you will see lots of awesome rooms with great stuff. That is how they won, and the color part too.

If you want your pets to be safe, a good home security is always key. Some are Clanking Cans, Satellite Security...

You should also get some insurance in case of emergency, or flood, etc. Some of the insurance providers are Buzz Extra-Protection, Peophin Protection, and the very boring Basic Security. But there are others, very good others. I highly suggest buying a good security system. Security is good, especially if the Pant Devil strikes (note: the Pant Devil will not attack your house, and security does not protect against anything; it's just there to look cool, but it does look cool.)

Some lighting is important such as Electric Lamps, Chandeliers, Gas Lamps; those are just some lighting types, there are too many others to list.

There are lots of heating types. The one object given out by the Advent Calendar called the Neohome heater is just an object, and does not heat anything. But NeoHeating System, A Warm Fireplace (yes, it is real), and Immersion Heating do heat your house. If you want your Neopet to stay warm this winter, I highly suggest buying some sort of heating system. But do not just stick to those; there are many others.

But most importantly, you need to think like a Neohomer. You need to have the guts to buy stuff that may be expensive. You have to think outside the box, but still be close to the box.

Lastly, your Neohome should reflect who you are. This is hard. But if you use the collection idea as stated above, it should work well. Or, if you love the color gray for some odd reason, you should have a collection of grey objects. Like the grey faerie dress, grey plushies, and other things like that. Maybe with silver or stone walls, or possibly even marble, or if you want to go the extra mile and get white chocolate walls and floors. Same with purple, tons of jelly or purple stuff, with jelly walls, or cloud. If you like brown, brown items with chocolate walls and floors. Or with, well, I think you get it.

If you follow all these “rules” to creating a great Neohome, you have a great chance of making the best Neohome. Good Luck to all home decorators, and good luck in your Best Neohome Quest! *under my breath* You'll need it.
