Are YOU a Guild Hopper?

by mackcat126

--------

You are probably wondering what a “Guild Hopper” is. I will tell you immediately so you can understand my article. A Guild Hopper is a Neopian who just can’t stay in one guild. However, there are different types of guild hoppers. There is a following guild hopper, a leading guild hopper, a split guild hopper, and a loyal guild hopper.

A following guild hopper is the easiest type of guild hopping to stop. Basically if you are a following guild hopper, you join your best friend’s guild, then you see a guild that gives you stuff, so you leave your friend's guild and join that new guild. Soon, you become tired of that guild because the prizes aren’t as good as you thought they’d be. You leave that guild and join your other friend’s guild. There are no members there, so you quit. Immediately you find a guild with a really cool layout, so you join. Soon you notice that you aren’t getting any pleasure from that guild. And so you leave a guild yet again. Within a month, you have been in so many guilds you’ve lost count, yet you can’t find a way to stop guild hopping. This is where I can help.

As a following guild hopper, you get so bored of joining guilds, that you forget the good a guild can do. What I recommend to you is that you stop looking at guilds for a while. If you have to be in a guild, join a small one, and maybe you can help it grow. You want to be in a really successful guild, so I think you should join a successful guild, but not be on the guild page all the time. If you are constantly at the guild, you will get very tired of it. In the time before you get a good guild for yourself, I think you should earn a lot of neopoints, make your neohome good, and possibly make your shop really successful and well known so that guilds are begging you to join.

If you are a leading guild hopper, you are constantly making new guilds, but you are never satisfied. First you think you have a great idea, but nobody joins, so you give up hope, then you look at a good guild and take their idea, yet being the leader is boring, so you delete your guild.

The way to cure yourself of this type of guild hopping is to join a guild, not be on the council, and just stay out of it. If you have to be the boss, make a good guild and wait. Just wait, members will come.

When someone is a split guild hopper, they sometimes make guilds that bore them, and then join guilds that bore them. This is the worst type of guild hopping, and there is only one easy cure: Stay away from guilds. If you can’t do that, then you shall be lost in the world of guilds until you make a good guild for you, or join one that’s good for you.

If you are still reading, you are thinking, “But I always stay in one guild for a long time.” A long time can be a changeable expression. For instance, a previous following guild hopper could be in a guild for a month, leave, and then say that they were there for a long time. This type of guild hopping is called loyal guild hopping because you think that you are loyal to a guild, but you get bored of it, so you leave. The problem of loyal guild hopping is that everybody in a guild is a loyal guild hopper. If you have made one guild that you have not left, you are a loyal guild hopper, because you may leave your guild at any time. If you have been in one guild for your entire Neopian career, you are a loyal guild hopper. There is no cure to this type of guild hopping because it’s not always a problem.

I sincerely hope that this article has explained guild hopping to you and that now you know how to stop guild hopping. I will now tell you my story as a guild hopper.

I thought I had a great guild that I would never leave. In my experience before that guild, I knew I was a leading guild hopper. I thought of good ideas that never worked, then I got tired of it, so I stopped with guilds.

I returned to the world of guilds eventually and I created a guild that people actually joined! I was so happy, and I thought the guild would be very successful. I kept my members organized and I posted birthdays, and I thought of guild events we could have. Everything was good. Then the guild got quiet. Nobody was posting or reading the guild news or the calendar. Nobody participated in my polls either. I became very disappointed, so I made up a quest that might help the guild prosper, but nobody read about that quest I made up, so I got bored.

I made my best member leader, and I left my guild. Now I look back and I see that I was a loyal guild hopper in that guild, because I was there for a long time, and I came up with ideas that people liked. After I left that guild, I joined my friend’s guild, and now I’m trying to think of a guild idea that will be very successful.

When I get a good idea for a guild, I will dwell in the world of guilds again, but for now I am sitting out.

I am very happy that I helped some fellow guild hoppers out there, and I hope that I made some people think about how to stay happy in the guild world, because it is truly a fun place once you figure out how to use it.

“Have fun in a guild, don’t use it to get stuff.”
