Petpet Protection League? What Protection?

by water_glass

--------

When I heard what PPL first stood for, it blew me away. Of all the things – Popular pizza lore, Purple Peophin Lunchbox, Playful Pretty Lupe – running through my head about this acronym, what it actually stands for is Petpet Protection League. Don’t understand what it is? It’s a league that protects petpets. It rewards kind Neopets who’ve stuck with their Petpets through thick and thin. However, what about those other petpets? Are they protected by the PPL? If you’ve ever visited the games room, the answer running through your head is probably ‘no.’

For starters, we have Feed Florg. At the start of the game, we meet a hungry mutant Chia who is going crazy – crying, yelling, opening its mouth. The poor Chia is hungry! The objective of the game is to feed the crazed Chia. So what does Florg love to eat? Cakes? Neggs? Pizza? As you sit there questioning what this Chia could possibly be hungry for, a metal box drops down above the table. Ooh, pretty box! My, it’s so shiny, with all the colorful buttons and – and a petpet comes out! A Hasee, maybe a Tenna. But why are petpets being dropped in the middle of the table in front of an angry Chia? Oh no...

And before you can think about why the petpets might be there, Florg’s tongue unravels, eating the petpets! The petpets get eaten. As if there isn’t enough food in Neopia, you must eat an innocent petpet? Ah, but wait! There’s more!

There is another game played in the Virtupets Space Station. With this game you are informed that some Robot petpets have been accidentally thrown into the Recycling Center. This game is called Bumble Beams. The object of the game is to save them, yes. That is good. But who was so careless as to throw the meager petpets in there in the first place? That’s the question I’d like answer.

Did they accidentally get thrown down the garbage chute along with the uneaten food from Grundo’s Café? Or maybe they got tossed in the reject pile of Space Weaponry. We may never know, but it’s the PPL’s job to find out! When playing the game, you must drop the Robot petpets from beam to beam and try and get them to land in metal baskets. However, if you miss, they hit a conveyer belt that leads to who knows where. Maybe down the Recycling Center chute again to hopefully make it into a basket. Maybe out of Virtupets Space Station down into Neopia’s Money Tree. We only hope.

Now we leave Virtupets Space Station for a much colder region of the land of Neopia – Terror Mountain. Terror all right. While wondering around the snowy atmosphere, you may come upon a game called Snowbeast Snackrifice. In this game, there is an angry snowbeast in a cave, and a brave Kyrii must ward him off. Using his brute strength and a rainbow gun, of course. You only wish. Instead, the Kyrii picks up Polarchucks and Meepits to ward off the evil fiend. What does the snowbeast do with the petpets? No one is certain.

The difference with the snowbeast is the the PPL has been alerted of such activity, as you can see when you read the description of the game:

A village on Terror Mountain is plagued by an ancient curse, and its citizens believe that the only way of avoiding the jinx's wrath is to deliver an offering of Petpets to a nearby Snowbeast’s cave. As soon as the Petpet Protection League (PPL) became aware of this ghastly ritual, however, they sent a delegation to Terror Mountain to stop the Petpet sacrifices. In this game, you play as a villager who is trying his best to get past the PPLers...

The PPL just stands by as innocent petpets are being thrown into dark caves to who-knows-where? What did the Polarchuck ever do to you? And where can you find Meepits in Terror Mountain? Being sacrificed to an angry snowbeast in a cave, of course!

We now return to Virtupets Space Station shortly to point out the some Robot Petpet have been thrown into a Recycling Center? The object of the game is to save them, yes. That is good. But who was so careless as to throw the meager petpets in there in the first place? That’s the question I’d like answer. Did they accidentally get thrown down the garbage chute along with the uneaten food from Grundo’s Café? Or maybe they got tossed in the reject pile of Space Weaponry. We may never know, but it’s the PPL’s job to find out!

Last but not least I take you to Meridell. First, we will visit the Symol Hole. Upon approaching, the Petpet gets various choices of how to jump down the hole, such as head first or eyes closed. But there is no ‘I-don’t-want-to-go-down-that-scary-dark-hole-and-you-can’t-make-me’ option. Would you make your Neopet go down the hole if it was big enough? I didn’t think so.

The final stop. The last place that is evil to all the poor petpets. It’s big. It’s colorful. And it’s lazy. Otherwise known as the Turmaculus. This is a place where Neopets go to voluntarily get their petpets eaten. For what? An avatar? If you’ve had that Snowbunny or that Faellie for a year and you get it eaten, it’s gone. For Feed Florg, yes, they get eaten, but that is the game. Here is where Neopets gather in hopes of getting their Petpets eaten! They want their petpet to get eaten! And the PPL just sits there and lets it happen.

Maybe now more petpets will be protected by the ever-popular PPL. Maybe not. We only need to wait and see how many more petpets will it take to satiate the Turmaculus's or Florg's hunger until they will never need to eat a petpet again.

Hey guys! This is my first NT Entry; hope you liked it. =D
