How To Find The Right Guild For You

The first thing you have to do is decide what type of guild interests you. There are two basic types of guild. There are the Neopets related guild and the non-related guilds. Both options are great – it just depends on what you’re looking for.

There are a lot of guilds just for specific themes on Neopets. The easiest way to determine which type you should look for is asking yourself: What do you spend most of your time on Neopets doing? The most common Neopets related guilds I’ve seen are about avatar collecting, battling, buying and selling, neohomes, and various types of galleries. These types of guilds can help encourage, inspire, and advise you about whatever it is that you’re interested in.

As for non-related Neopets guilds, the options are endless. The best way to find one is to ask yourself: What do you like to do best in the real world? There are guilds for all kinds of animals, books, movies, and anything else you can think of. This is a great way to find people to chat with about your real-world interests.

I personally prefer Neopets related guilds. They usually won’t go out of style or become old news and they’re much more helpful on advice for the game. However, no matter what you prefer, there are several ways to find a guild now that you’ve narrowed down what exactly you’re looking for.

The first option is to go to the guild headquarters. Here you can browse through the guild neighborhoods or use the search option. You can also go to the help link to find out some of the more basic details about guilds like how to join or leave a guild. If you go to the bottom of the page you can see the search option. Here put in one or two words about your interests into the search box you can come up with an entire list of possible guilds. Make sure you have “search by” option as “keywords” otherwise your results will be much smaller. So, here’s an example of what to type in. Say you’ve got a great gallery and you want to meet others with similar interests. Don’t just type in “gallery”, that’s too many results and not enough specifics. Instead type in what exactly you have in your gallery – such as “plushies”, “evil”, or “faerie”. If the search results in only a handful of guilds try again using fewer words or more general words.

The second way to find a guild is to try the neoboards. If your interest is one of the neoboards (such as avatars, battling, games, role playing, or trading/auctions) go there first and post that you are looking for a guild. If there is not a neoboard for your interest than head right over to the guild neoboard. If you’re just looking for what guilds are out there posting a topic of “guildless” is an okay topic. However, when you already know what you want you need to be more specific. Topics such as “Looking for an Avatar Guild” or “Neohome Fanatic looking for Guild” are much more clear about what you want. You can also include an important fact such as how large your shop is, how many avatars you have, how many battles you have won, or other related facts to attract a guild’s attention. Remember to only use a fact related to what type of guild you’re looking for. It also helps to include “please read first”. This means that you’re asking someone to please read your first post where you can include more details about what exactly you want. But what exactly should you include in that post?

What you include in that first post or what you look for when other people post advertisements for their guild is what will probably make the difference in whether you stay with that guild or not. You want to make sure the guild is active. Signs of this are the number of members (typically 50+ is very active) and the number of posts. If there are very few people chatting on the guild board it makes it very unappealing to stay there – because what is the point? Another positive sign is that the guild has a place to display the rules and details about the guild. It shows that the guild leaders care about the guild. Another thing you might want to look for is that the guild is open to new ideas and suggestions. Signs of this are that they have an open council spot, open sub-council, or they encourage people to create new guild activities. If you look for the guild to have these and any other options that are important to you (like semi-literate, lending, or adoption agencies) then it is likely that you will stay with that guild for a long time.

The final thing to remember is do not just join the first appealing guild. Write down the names of the guilds you like or keep the neomails that have the guild invites. Do this for several days. Once you have a list of 10 or more guilds, it is time to decide which one you want. Decide what you want most from whatever guild you join. Do you want help with your goals? Or a place to chit-chat any time you’re online? Or are you looking for a guild with a lot of activities? Compare the positive qualities of each guild and pick the one that has everything you’re looking for. Do not settle. It may take a week or two to find the right guild for you. However, it is worth it when you find a guild that you can stay with for a long time!
