The Missing Links to Altador

by dudedudedude535

--------

ALTADOR - We've all seen the message at the top of the Altador map about Altador's disappearance from Neopia. We also have all seen the new map of Neopia showing the back side of the planet and opening up new worlds to us. But, I still wondered: if Altador was right there on the other side of those mountains, why didn't anyone ever go to look for it? I decided to snoop around and figure out why Altador has been and still is such a mystery to the rest of Neopia.

Before I began I decided to look at what information had recently been found with the end of the Altador plot and the thwarting of the Darkest Faerie's plans. We know that much magic has been used in and around Altador by various people such as Jerdana or some different faeries. Could a spell's side effect have gone wrong? Or was there a physical reason for the disconnection from the rest of the world? I felt that it was time to try and find out.

I began my search with a trip to the Altadorian Archives. There I discovered absolutely noting except for the fact that it is incredibly easy to get lost, and a weird door leading to a random spacial abyss. I'm still not sure what that was all about. After hours of wasted time searching for answers, I decided to look around Altador for any clue or thing gone wrong that could lead me in the right direction. I could find nothing at the docks, the Hall of Heroes, or anywhere else for that matter.

I turned to trying to find out some info from some of the locals. I spoke with the Archivist Lenny, who agreed that magic may have been involved and promised to continue looking through the archives hoping to have more luck than myself. Before I left we both had the same thought: "Could new constellations and another book in the archives be linked to other mysteries in Altador, just like the plot mystery?" It could be a possibility, But it was highly improbable. I went to speak with Altador but unfortunately he had to run out on some important business. Nothing out of the ordinary and no clues found. This was not helping my cause!!!! I was starting to get ready to give up when I decided to broaden my search, perhaps to the big picture, the actual location of Altador on the planet. Could the answer to the mystery not be in Altador? Could it be hidden within the surrounding areas? I had to continue searching!

I moved to the mountains east of Altador that separate Altador from the Haunted Woods and Lost Desert. This search came up fruitless and the west side was no better. The other side of Altador gave me a huge ocean with only islands that were just discovered with the creation of the new map. I had to be missing something. There had to be some tiny clue that I was overlooking. That's when it hit me - TINY!!!!

I used a lens to zoom in on the city of Altador. On the first magnification it looked as if nothing was wrong but it only took a few seconds for clues to start popping up. The first of these was a strange link that appeared. I moused over the city and its surroundings a few times and discovered a second link that only appeared when you moved the mouse towards the city from the west. The cursor was near the mountains to the northwest of the city but for some reason a second link was appearing. Upon clicking the link to see where it would take me I came to the conclusion that it went nowhere. The title section on the bottom of the map would say Altador only when you clicked and help the mouse button down. On my first magnification it seemed that nothing happened. Boy was I wrong!!!!!

I zoomed in to the second magnification. The first thing that I noticed was a random green smudge sort of thing in between two large hills northeast of Altador. What could this be? This new discovery puzzled me and I began experimenting to see if I could find a connection between the smudge and the link. I found that by clicking and holding down the mouse button on the link, the smudge will disappear and reveal a cliff sort of land form between the two hills. Upon the release of the mouse button the smudge would return. This was surely the strangest thing I had seen in all of Neopia. This was even greater than the great Jelly World rumors. I can't believe that people would actually believe in a world consisting entirely of jelly. Whoever thought up that one sure has an active imagination!!!! I realized that from a distance the smudge is almost invisible to the naked eye. This would cause no one to see it unless they were really searching.

In my belief, this strange happening must be connected with the disappearance and reappearance of Altador. I believe that the cliff-like object that I found may have acted as a barrier between Altador and the rest of Neopia. The Smudge that has taken its place must be a side effect caused by the sudden reappearance of the majestic city of Altador. Perhaps with further observation, more of these strange items can be found around Altador or maybe even around the entire planet of Neopia!!!

In conclusion, I have come up with the theory that Altador was not missing but instead was just unreachable from the rest of Neopia because of a strange and yet unknown force channeled through a landform resembling a cliff. Further searching will have to be done to figure out why this newly discovered object was capable of cutting off all connections with the rest of the world. I am sure many theories will arise, such as the darkest faerie being involved or other spells cast by unknown forces but for now we may be one step closer to finding the missing links and solving the mysteries of Altador.
