Exploring Meridell

by costa_rican_girl

--------

In honour of The Discovery of Meridell, which occurred a few weeks ago, I have decided to write an article about exploring Meridell.

Sure, we've all been there. But most of us haven't really explored it. Even if you've been everywhere from Turdle Racing to Illusen's Glade, there is still much to learn, young Grasshopper!

This article is going to be divided into sections: Meridell in General, Meri Acres Farm, Darigan Citadel, and the Castle. In each section I will make a list of highlights. And In each highlight I will add a description.

Meridell in General

1. Turdle Racing: This game brings much joy, whether you win or lose! It's simply hysterical to watch those little creatures sliding around on the board. I usually roll a die to pick which Turdle to bet on, because it seems completely random which Turdle wins. You can bet three times per day on this game.

2. Ultimate Bullseye: This is my all-time favourite flash game, not just in Meridell but in all of Neopia! It's very quick to play and easy to earn lots and lots of Neopoints. Oh yes, and it is FUN!!!!! This is a MUST for Meridell tourists.

3. Ye Olde Petpets: Here is the place to go when you want to get that perfect Petpet. There are Whinnies, Mortogs, Turtums and more! This place is definitely the best Petpet shop in all of Neopia.

4. Food Shoppe: One word: POTATOES! This place seems to specialize in potatoes, big or small, fried or broiled. If you like potatoes, buy here!

5. Illusen's Glade: Illusen is possibly the kindest Faerie in all of Neopia. There is one thing she is strict about, though: quests. If she asks you to do a quest, she expects you to do them! After doing the first quest (assuming you didn't fail) you move up to the second quest, and so on until you complete the final quest, which gets you one of the rarest items in Neopia! MWAHAHAHAHA! The quests get extremely difficult and if you fail you move back to level one. Told you she was strict!

6. Kiss the Mortog: EEEEWWW! Who wants to kiss a warty, slimy creature like that!? I DO! Somehow I seem to find joy in puckering up to those Petpets, but I get frustrated when I pick the wrong one! If you are one who gets easily frustrated, do not visit here. I picked the wrong one! NOOOOOOOO…

Meri Acres Farm

1. Extreme Potato Counter: This is a fun and easy game. I personally like plain old Potato Counter better, but this is fun too. Once again, it can get rather frustrating when you accidentally count a carrot instead of a potato and are off by a single potato.

2. Pick Your Own: I LOVE THIS GAME!! It is just so much fun to frolic around the shrubberies and look for berries! I seem to always pick up thousands of Piles of Dung, but that is NOT the point! This game is one of the best games ever created, period.

3. Rubbish Dump: The only thought going through my head while visiting the Rubbish Dump is: Money Tree!!! The Rubbish Dump is almost a complete copy of the Money Tree. The only difference is that the Rubbish Dump is only for rubbish (surprising, isn't it?), while the Money Tree is for almost anything. Even though it's a copy it is still fun to go there and pick up lots of rubbish. GO RUBBISH!!!

4. Potato Counter: Potato Counter is a hundred times better than Extreme Potato Counter! Plus the Kacheek in Potato Counter is just so darn cute! This game tests your speed of counting potatoes (duh). If you get the right number in a short amount of time you get Neopoints! Yay!

The Darigan Citadel

1. Petpet Arena: Now why can't this arena be in a more accessible place? I don't like going up into that creepy citadel… I do it though, because it is SO worth it! In the Petpet Arena you need to beat the first Petpet to move up a level, and I am pretty sure there are no weapons to assist your Petpet with. This is really nothing like the Battledome, because you are given a specific opponent and you must beat that opponent in order to move on to another. I love going here, and I'm sure you will, too!

2. Darigan Colouring Pages: Hehe! Am I the only one who finds joy from colouring random scenes from the citadel? I am? Oh…

To the Castle!!

1. Grumpy Old King: This game isn't the most fun of games if you play the way I do. I usually pick everything completely randomly. I can sometimes get a chuckle out of the large-bellied king. However some people like to think out their jokes, make them funny and have them make sense. It is more fun that way, but I find it takes a long, long time. If you have the time you should visit this game, but if not you are not missing out on that much.

2. Meriball: There are many Neopets in Neopia who come to Meridell just for this game. Well, it's not really a game; it's a sport. Basically you run around in the castle's courtyard and hit a ball against a wall with someone. It's actually quite fun! The beginning opponents are relatively easy but after a few victories they can get extremely hard to beat. This is a must for all Neopians who venture into the castle.

3. Kayla's Potion Shop: OOH! This shop is even better than Kauvara's shop! It's amazing that such a young girl has the capabilities to make potions every bit as good as Kauvara! (Maybe even better.) I suggest you buy a few things from here; you can use the potions or give them to a friend as a gift! Either way they will be greatly appreciated!

4. Escape From Meridell: This is the place to go LAST. It's simple logic! When you play a game where the object is to escape from the place you are in, it's just common sense to play it last. It's also common sense to finish an article with this game! So farewell!

NOTE: Thanks everyone for reading my article! This is my first article that I have ever had published in the Neopian Times. Before this I've only had short stories!

Acknowledgements: Thanks to everyone in the NTWF for always being there for me and for encouraging me and believing in me. GROUP HUG!

If you are planning to Neomail me please do NOT: (1)Ask me to be in your guild; I have guild invitations blocked for a reason! (2)Ask me to unblock all Neofriend requests. No, I will not be your Neofriend unless I have known you for a while. Again, I have Neofriend requests blocked for a reason. (3)Ask for items. Just because I am in the Neopian Times doesn't make me any wealthier than anyone else! I'm probably poorer than you because I am spending all my time writing instead of making Neopoints.

I really like reviews and pointers of my works, so please Neomail!! -Rose-
