The Neo-Market Report

By stereolab

Once more it's time to visit Neopia's leading market watchers. Joining our hosts this week will be Kati Hennic and Toby Telfred, the co-founders of Super Slime Shakes. They'll be here to talk about their plans for the future. And now, here are our hosts…

KAUVUTO: Hello and welcome to this week's edition of The Neo-Market Report. I am your host Neil Kauvuto, and as always I am joined by my lovely co-host Maria Blumaroono, who's at The News Desk with all the latest from the exchange. Maria, what's the scoop from The Floor?

BLUMAROONO: Well Neil, summertime is definitely here and every single Neopian I know is going on a long vacation, which only means one thing--they are taking their NPs out of the bank and running off to Mystery Island or that new Lost Desert, and spending all of it on tacky T-shirts and expensive lodging. I predicted awhile back that the bank stock was going to take quite a dive, which, in fact is quite ironic... a lot of Neopians will be diving into the Neopian Sea this summer. It's absolutely going to be a cooling off period for the National Neopian.

KAUVUTO: Thanks Maria, good to know, but while some stocks are cooling off in the shade, some are hot, hot, hot... sizzling like bacon in the summer sun. If you are a stockholder of Super Splime, you turned a very nice profit this week, which reaffirms my theory that Neopians are 60% thirstier in the summer. Another company that's planning to take advantage of the summer is Jacko and Sons Painting. With all of the pets on summer vacation from school, Jacko and Sons has hired many of them for their already large workforce. I got a call from Jacko himself this morning and he pledged that his workers will paint every single NeoHome from here to the Lost Desert or his name isn't Jacko. You might considered putting your NPs behind that before the price goes through the roof.

BLUMAROONO: Neil, as you mentioned earlier, one company that's fared quite well this summer is that of our guests today. When they started Super Slime Shakes over two years ago, Kati Hennic and Toby Telfred were two young entrepreneurs looking for a break. Now, having established themselves with Super Splime, Kati and Toby are looking to branch out in new directions. Guys, we're glad you could stop in today…. By the way, I sure could use one of those Super Splime drinks right about now.

KATI: Maria, we're glad we could be here.

TOBY: We're huge fans, so this is a real treat for us…

KAUVUTO: Thanks, we're glad to have you. My first question would be, with the success of Super Splime, why would you be looking to do something else? After all, thanks to the Neopian heat wave, you guys are making heaps of money. I would think you'd be glad to keep raking in the dough making smoothies…

KATI: Well Neil, that's the one thing that we want to get across; we're not looking to leave Super Slime…we love Super Splime, and we're going to keep on making smoothies and shakes as long the folks out there are willing to buy them.

TOBY: Absolutely. You see Neil, here's what Kati and I are trying to do; we've made a big chunk of money with Super Splime, so what we want to do now is take that money and put into projects that we feel very strong about. For example, something we're working on right now is Cloud furniture…

BLUMAROONO: Excuse me, did you say CLOUD furniture?

KATI: That's correct. It's still in the testing stages, but we hope that sometime in the near furniture Neopians will be able to sit in Cloud Chairs, sleep in Cloud Beds… can you imagine how comfortable a mattress made out of clouds would be?

TOBY: And it'll also make moving your furniture and cleaning a snap!

BLUMAROONO: Wow, that's really fascinating. Say, are there any other projects you can tell us about?

TOBY: Now that I think about it, there's this one other thing… it's still in the planning stages, but we're looking at…

KATI: Oh, you mean Weather Wear? I don't know if we should tell them about that yet…

TOBY: I know it's a long ways off, but it's such a cool idea.

KATI: I just wouldn't want you to go getting peoples' hopes up, that's all. Weather Wear is probably years away…

TOBY: Well anyway, like I was saying we've got this idea called Weather Wear. It'll be a pullover type-thing that when you put it on, your whole body is protected from the weather outside and covered by a layer of atmosphere that you can adjust to whatever temperature you like. That way, regardless of what the temperature is outside of your Weather Wear, you'll always feel cool and stay dry inside.

KAUVUTO: Boy, that's pretty amazing. Well, that's about all the time we have for this week. For Maria Blumaroono, Kati Hennic and Toby Telfred, this is Neil Kauvuto saying thank you and so long…
