*THURSDAY*
"I'm still shocked about what you said to Nancy," said
Bobette, munching on popcorn. The girls sat in Bobby's room eating popcorn
and watching NeoSurvivor.
"You possibly can't be as shocked as I am," said Amber.
"Seriously. What are we gonna do?" asked Bobby.
"I have no idea. Maybe it's not worth it."
"Maybe it's not. I don't wanna be seen with someone who's
'life is ruined'" Bobby laughed. "What can she possibly do to you?"
"I don't know. She is pretty popular. She is the mastermind
behind the West Hills popularity system!"
"Shh! Commercial is over!"
"Can I use your phone? I gotta call Lisa."
"Ok, but don't talk too loud! The Light Faerie is talking!"
Amber laughed and picked up the phone. She heard talking. It must of been
Bobette's sister talking to her friend. She listened.
"Ya, ok. He was probably joking," one voice said.
"No, he was completely serious," said another.
"We'll call him later. Anyway, how has your mother's
teaching coming along?"
"Not too well. She needs more students. Nobody wants
to learn to sing!"
"Hey, how about I ask Bobby? We can get her and some
friends."
"Sounds good!"
Amber hung up the phone. Bobby turned around. "That was
fast. I didn't even hear you talk." Amber smiled, feeling a little guilty
for listening to her sister on the phone. Then she heard footsteps. Bobby's
sister walked in.
"Martha! I told you to knock!" yelled Bobette, and thew
a pillow at her sister.
"Relax dork. I have an idea I have to talk to you girls
about."
"The singing lessons..." Amber thought.
"My friend's mother, Mrs. Gelert is a singing teacher.
She trains people to sing," said Martha.
"What do you want from us?" asked Bobby.
"Well, Mrs. Gelert is kinda low on students. She's really
talented and can teach just about anyone, even in a short time."
"Not interested," replied Bobby.
Then an idea came to Amber.
"Mrs. Gelert can teach ANYONE in a SHORT TIME?"
"Yup."
Bobby and Amber looked at each other.
"Amber, what a perfect chance! Mrs. Gelert can teach
you to sing for the talent show!"
Amber smiled. "Ok, Martha. Call back your friend and
tell her she has a new student! Get the info for me."
"Thanks Amber! Mrs. Gelert will really appreciate it."
And Martha left the room.
"Wait, what about Nancy? She's gonna ruin me if I audition!"
"She said if you audition with DANCING as a talent..."
Bobby looked at Amber slyly.
"This is too perfect. I better call Lisa for real now!"
said Amber.
"Ok," replied Bobette, still smiling. "Wait a minute,
for real?"
Amber froze. "Nevermind. I'll just call."
*FRIDAY*
Martha called up Mrs. Gelert. Amber would start her lessons
everyday until the talent show. Amber ran into the gymnasium to submit
her new form with her new talent. She waited in line, finally an Elephante
took her form.
"Name?" the elephante asked.
"Amber Shoyru."
"Talent?"
"Singing."
"Very nice," replied the Elephante. "How about you audition
on the Thursday, two weeks from now?"
"That's perfect!" Two weeks of lessons would be enough
for the audition.
"Here's the official West Hills talent letter. It explains
the rules and such. You are number 104."
"Thank you so much!" said Amber and walked out of the
school. It was time for her first singing lesson.
She knocked on the door. She checked to make sure she
had the right address.
2... 3... 1... 2 Neopia Avenue. This is it, she
thought. Then a familiar face opened the door.
"Amber?" It was Justin. Mrs. Gelert is Justin's mother.
That makes sense now, she thought.
"Hi Justin. Is your mom home?"
"Yes, she is. So you are her new student?"
"Yup. It's going to be fun. I'm going to sing for the
talent show."
"You are? I thought you weren't gonna audition after
what Nancy said."
"Wait, how did you know Nancy said that to me?"
"It's the talk of the school. You were pretty brave standing
up to her." Amber blushed.
"Here. Come in. My mother is in the office." Justin led
her to what he called the office.
"Here it is. Well, have fun, I have to start on my homework!"
Justin ran upstairs.
Amber felt embarassed that she is singing at Justin's
house. What if he heard her? What if she was awful? Then the door opened.
An elderly gelert stood in the doorway. The office wasn't much like an
office at all. In the back was a beautiful black piano, some sofas and
a lovely rug. Around the room hung pictures of her children. Amber smiled,
looking at the baby pictures of Justin.
"Come in, Amber. How nice to meet you!" Amber stepped
inside. Mrs. Gelert's friendly face made Amber calm down.
"You can call me Teresa. Have you ever took singing lessons
before?"
"No, I haven't. I want to learn to sing for the talent
show."
"When is the audition?"
"In two weeks. The Thursday. I'll find out If I made
it that night. If I did, I'll need another song..." Teresa listened.
"If you can..." Amber finished.
"Of course I can! Let's begin!" Teresa played some exercises
on the piano and the lesson began.
To be continued...
