Many Neopian owners hope never to meet them. They are
bad omens, always threatening your pet or stealing your Neopoints. Checking
at the Money Tree further convinces you of their evils, because there
is nothing there to take as they have stolen everything. Who are they?
They are Ghosts. One brave Ghost in this article has decided to speak
up against this common prejudice.
Unfortunately, it is a common misconception that all
Ghosts are evil. That is totally untrue and is very prejudiced. After
all, if I said all Bruce were liars would you believe me? Probably not.
So it is the same thing with Ghosts, we are not all evil.
We used to be like you, carefree owners with their NeoPets,
leading simple lives. However, we got greedy. We wished to get as much
NP as possible, hoarding every item we had. We neglected our pets and
betrayed our Neofriends if we earned something. The Faerie Queen learned
of this and cast a strong spell on us. Thus we became ghosts, knowing
no peace and roaming Neopia.
Right now, you might be thinking, Big deal, how about
the 50 Neopoints you stole from me the other day? Well chances are,
you have not been donating to the Money Tree regularly. That’s what we
do, the good ghosts. We find those owners who are mean and selfish and
“help” them to donate NP, also to atone for our sins. Now you can be yelling
that it’s unfair, but think about all those poor Neopians out there. All
you have to do is donate some NP and you might make them very happy. Thus
the common saying: "What’s small to a Grarrl may be big to a Chia."
Meaning, a few Neopoints from you may mean a lot to others.
Of course, there are some mischievous ghosts who steal
from the Money Tree. Either tempted by the NP they could have or lured
by the pretty item donated, they steal it. However, they eventually discard
whatever they have stolen for some lucky Neopian owner to find. No matter
what they steal, they cannot use it. We are creatures of mist, with only
our robe being solid. So everything finds their way back into Neopia where
it can be sold, traded, donated or discarded.
Then, there is the worse kind of ghosts, and perhaps
the most pitiful. Those that threaten to eat your pet. These are the most
dangerous of all. These ghosts were victims of the wild animals of Neopia,
who travel in huge groups. On spotting any ghost, they would attack. Even
though we are creatures of mist, our robe is our lifeline. Knowing that,
they would descend on the ghost and brutally attack our robe. They may
kill the ghost, but most often they tire of playing with him and discard
him. Driven insane by the ferocious attack, he will roam Neopia, exacting
revenge on any animal that looked like those who attacked him. That is
the sad story of these ghosts.
So you see, not all ghosts are evil. We too have a place
in Neopia. Even though we are disliked by many, we will continue to fulfill
our role. When persuasion fails, force has to be used. Maybe one day,
when all Neopians are kind and generous, when all the mean and selfish
owners are gone, when everyone lives in harmony, maybe then we can finally
have peace and lay down for our final rest.
