Battledome Etiquette

by one48am

In the Battledome Board:
-List any special constraints you want for the battle in the post.
-Don't post "My Lupe will crush your pet!" unless you can back it up. It usually only annoys other players.
-If you say in the title "I'll accept all challenges," mean it. Don't put "No snowballs, healing items or wands" in the text of the post. -Treat everyone with respect. Don't call someone else's pet a scrawny weakling that couldn't chew its way through a paper bag.

When Targeting Pets:
-If you plan on challenging a pet, don't make the challenge and then get up to make a sandwich.
-Don't challenge a pet that's much weaker than yours! I've had this happen. My Zafara had 5 HP. His Jetsam had 11. When I kept rejecting his challenges, he called me a chicken. This is in no way fair and just makes people like me more willing to come at your Level 3 with our Level 20s. Which leads me to the next topic...
-No means no. When a challenge has been rejected, don't keep coming back.

When Responding to Challenges:
-Again, don't leave your computer. Nothing is more annoying than sitting in the Battledome waiting after a Challenge has been accepted.
-If your opponent hasn't appeared after five minutes, there is no shame in withdrawing.
-Be sure to check the stats of the pet you'll be fighting to make sure the fight is fair. People do scout out easy targets. It's your fault if you're suckered in.

Quickfights:
-Set your preferences! If you don't and you get in a fight with someone ten levels higher than you are, don't complain. You had the option to screen your opponents.
-Don't start searching for challengers if you don't feel like waiting. Sometimes you'll be entered into a fight immediately, and sometimes it may take a few minutes.

Battling:
-Respect your opponent. I can't stress that enough. We don't care to hear it if you're "creaming" us, nor do we want to know if you'll really "whoop up" on our pets.
-Lay off the frost cannons. Use them once or twice in a fight. Keeping your opponent frozen for the entirety of the battle is not only annoying, but it makes those of us who actually try look down on you. It's a cheap move and you won't make any friends by it.
-Abilities are more important than you realise. Those that you gain by leveling are sometimes particularly powerful.

The Battledome is meant for fun and to test your skill(s). Please keep that, above all else, in mind at all times. If you feel that someone is behaving unfairly or something just really grates your nerves, post on the message board to warn others or talk to that person about it. Until then, I'll see you at the Battledome.
