A Love Story: Part Two

"Come on, it'll be fun!" said Shval, "You have to come to the Annual Cybunny Festival! We always go! Please, Rievie?"

"But Charsi isn't going," said Rievie staring at the grass. Higto sighed and said, "Because she couldn't go, Rievie, and you have the chance to go, so you should, because it's going to be a really big and great fiesta."

"Yeah, pleeeeease?" begged Shval, "pretty please, I'll be your best friend?"

Rievie groaned and said, "Fine all right."

That night, the party was on. The rave was enormous, and the fun was just too good to miss. Shval dragged Rievie, and about a million of her siblings along. The music was loud and electronical because of where the Cybunnys came from. Then the oldest Cybunny stood up and made a speech. The Cybunnys were counted and as a new record...

"Oh my god, there was only 2698 Cybunnys out of the entire Neopia who didn't show up tonight!" screamed Shval happily hopping around the worn-out Rievie, "What a record!"

Then, as the great bonfire in the center is raised bigger into the night, there starts a faster dance at first. Rievie watched his siblings dancing happily with their boyfriend or girlfriend enviously. From Gobliar with Roam2, Trinity_Roses with Raukes, Kihalai with Kerusta, holocaustX with Missy12121, to all the way to the other end of the party with Sunjunila and Usellay, Chelsto and Chelsti, Sheryna and Ryokadoshi, etc. Rievie was sitting by the bonfire and he was just glancing over the dancing crowd when someone caught his eyes. It was PrincessCharsi. So she rejected me, thought Rievie bitterly, and is dancing with some other Usul. He was mad and sad, yet helpless.

Rievie couldn't take all of it anymore and he walked out of the crowd. He hoped that Charsi didn't notice him and he started towards the river. The river was calm that night and the moonlight fell on the water like a shining blanket. The noise and excitement of the festival was left behind him as he started for the upstream. A cool swift wind brushed against him and he closed his eyes and the image of Charsi and someone else appeared. He quickly opened his eyes and shook his head like shaking the image out of his head. It was painful and he was just... not able to hold that fact that Charsi could be in love with someone else.

Suddenly, he felt himself been lifted into the cool air of the night and for a moment, he thought he was dreaming. Then, as he felt the warmth of another pet's paw, he lifted his head and found himself facing Charsi.

"Hey," said Charsi smiling at him.

Rievie's heart raced and whispered, "Hey."

"I'm sorry about earlier," said Charsi quickly, "but I thought I was going to be caught up with Missy12121 doing a project, and well, we are not. See she's dancing with your brother? And I'm here too."

"Really, isn't that nice?" said Rievie.

PrincessCharsi laughed and flew for the ground again. They stood next to the quiet river and Charsi said, "Of course... you have to see it to believe it, and you are seeing someone here right now."

Rievie blinked and said, "Now I know I'm dreaming."

"Not a chance," said Charsi as she took out a snowball and placed it on Rievie's head.

"Hey!" said Rievie and threw a wet snowball at Charsi, "that's to pay back!"

PrincessCharsi giggled and poked Rievie in the stomach, then shot up into the sky and down again with another snowball smashing onto Rievie's nose. As the melting snowball dripped down from the top of his nose, he could even feel the taste was the icy and a little salty snow.

"Rats," said Rievie and he dodged as Charsi attempted to poke him again.

The two of them played around till the bonfire in the distance disappeared. With Charsi's head on Rievie's shoulder, they together walked back.

"Where have you been?" asked Shval, "that was the best time ever!"

"Yes it was," said Rievie smiling at the beautiful memory of him and Charsi.

Shval pulled his nose and said, "I couldn't even find you when there was this girl who wanted to dance with you!"

Rievie laughed and said, "I don't think I can handle two girls."

Shval didn't know what Rievie was talking about, but she went on about how great the party was and how many NeoPets showed up. Just then, as holocaustX and Missy12121 appeared, Rievie remembered that Charsi was dancing close to them with someone else. Who could that have been? Rievie asked himself. He thought about the snowballs and everything and thought that things couldn't have been better, but the dancing part...

Rievie couldn't asleep and he went outside sitting on the top of a tree. Then, a shadow appeared right next to him and though he couldn't see who it was because the shadow wasn't in the moonlight...

"Hey," a soft voice whispered.

"Hey," whispered Rievie back, "I'll recognize that sweet voice anywhere."

And then he burst out involuntarily, "but who were you dancing with at the Festival?"
