Attack of the Giant Omelette

by Lisa881

The Giant Omelette of Tyrannia has caused great happiness to the poor and rich of Neopia. Why? It provides a free food that can become three courses to anybody who wants to feed one to their pet(s)--one every day.

It is plain to see why the poor can benefit from this: If a poor Neopian has one pet and they feed their omelette to their dying pet, just one bowl of soup from the Soup Kitchen will restore their pet to being "not hungry"!!

And the rich love it also: Sometimes they will happen upon a rare kind of omelette, and they can make a 100% profit on something that was free to them! But, did anyone think of the downfalls of this?

Let me explain. The first, and biggest thing that the omelette will affect is the Neo-Economy. When people know that they can get a filling food for free, they will only need to buy a few food items. This will hugely cause the food economy to go into a slump, because nobody needs to buy from it anymore. And, with the prices of omelettes in the marketplace shops, the main food stores may not get any business at all!

Next, there is the work ethic. Why should people try to earn money if they can get what they need for free? The Faerieland Employment Agency will end up being just a fad, if that mindset stays. The rich could get their pets food for free, and use the money saved to make them even richer. That would mean that inflation would take its toll. People would have to have more money in order to become middle and/or upper class. But if people don't work, the difference between the lower and upper classes will be huge. And becoming rich will be almost impossible.

Is all this worrying unnecessary? Some may say so, but I leave you to judge the omelette as you wish. I personally believe that omelette is a good thing, because rich people will not get as many pleads for food and items as they did before, since they can begin to deposit money. Anyway, no matter if you love it, or it sounds like a bust, I strongly encourage you visit the omelette before my opinions are set in stone.
