I know you've all heard those stories about total success in moneymaking
and shopkeeping. Well, don't ever pay attention to what they say unless
YOU are the one deciding what to do. Instead, listen to your shops heart
and you will find what you need there. But on the other hand, if you don't
have a shop or are just waiting for the heart to appear, try my totally
terrific tips.
Start a shop!
If you want to have lots of NP you must have a shop. If I made the rules
I'd say you really need one. Even though you only start off with 500 NP,
spending 250 isn't a waste of money at all. If you think it is just because
you have no money to spend on items and upgrades, do you really think
money will appear out of nowhere and then you can open up a shop and have
the lot? I didn't think so. When you have your shop, there are a limited
amount of upgrades you can have with that money. So, upgrade it once if
you feel like it. If you want to upgrade it more, sign up with sponsors
and earn more money and items for some too! But don't go berserk and spend
all your money or you will have to go around begging and that gets you
nowhere. Limit the upgrade size to 4 or 5.
Items are the essentials!
How on Earth are you going to earn money from an empty shop? Of course,
you aren't. Items are going to earn you that money to buy the Nova you've
always wanted. Big money is the key, but nobody (except the obvious people)
will buy a bitten red apple for 20,000 NP Instead, to price your items,
use a simple rule which was made to be broken: Put the item(s) in your
shop and open up another window with the Shop Wizard in it. Search for
each item and put down the lowest price you saw, then -
a) simply change it slightly if you have money and make it less
b) leave it that price or slightly more expensive, but never over 100
NP more if you have less NP
The prices should always be almost the same to this tip, excluding some
items.
a) grooming products - 8 NP
b) common foods - 50 NP
c) common books - 15 NP
d) map pieces - 3000 NP
ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE SHOP WIZARD! Some prices differ from these.
There is NO excuse for selling that Rainbow Paintbrush for 2000 NP when
everyone else is asking for 180,000 NP and you bought it for 140,000 NP!
Shops Are Spectacles!
Your shop description will not get read much if its the plain, boring,
black font in the average shop. Pictures, advertisements, marquees, coloured
writing and links are always a good eye-catcher. Don't expect people to
read it if you are having a competition, or a really cheap price. I'm
not a HTML expert at all! I don't know colours, how to change text fonts
or anything, only the basics. So do yourself a favour and learn some HTML.
But nobody visits!
Let people KNOW your shop is around. Tell people, post things, Neomail
people. Say a simple but informative message, such as 'Come to my cool
shop for the cheapest prices, full stocks, and a competition every now
and then!'. Post this around. My warnings are to not spam (post in all
the boards), post one after one after one, Neomail everyone you know,
or give fake contests or you will be either hacked or frozen. This is
NOT good.
Go for it!
There, all my tips are now spent on your well-being and I hope you get
better. Visit my shop, other peoples shops, and don't be afraid to click
on links to other peoples shops. You never know, they could be good...
I hope you keep going with NeoPets! Remember to stock lots, check your
shop each time you're on NeoPets, keep checking Shop Wizard and check
everything! Don't sell for too little or you'll be back at the start!
If you ever need help, I offer it with shop messages, HTML (only the ones
I know, I don't know banners or buttons or anything!), competitions and
stuff. Good luck!
