A Mystical Winter Holiday

One day, I decided to explore the colder parts of Neopia, the winter world. I brought along my favourite pets. Arkn, the Fire Lupe and Drkn the Rainbow Shoyru. Drkn and I were having fun playing Snow Wars. We were throwing snowballs at one another and it was fun to see each other's faces covered with snow. Arkn however, was not really enjoying himself.

"Why couldn't we just go to the fire Faerie volcano? It nice and warm there... not like this place. It's freezing," complained Arkn.

"Well, get yourself a jacket then. I'm sure they have some coats that are fireproof," I said.

So we went into the costume shop and got Arkn a fitting jacket. He looked rather dashing as a Christmas Fire Lupe. It was lucky the jacket was not flammable. While strolling along, we got lost. After endless hours of walking, we finally got to the start of the path that leads to the ice caves.

"Why can't we just take the short cut to the top of the mountain?" complained the now freezing Arkn.

"Well, I was thinking of getting some new weapons for the Battledome. We could also use some powerful Neggs," I said.

"Boyrage! come here! look what I found!!" shouted Drkn from a nearby bush.

We ran towards his direction and found a Negg bush. It was really our luck and we collected as many as we could. I even managed to find a ripe Ultra Ice Negg. We kept the rest of the Ice Neggs in our back and went on our way. The path to the Ice Caves was rather dangerous and once, I almost fell if Drkn hadn't flown down and grabbed me.

When we finally reached the Ice Caves, we saw some Lupes playing with some Poogles. It was then that I started teasing Arkn about being a Lupe and being afraid of the cold.

"I come from the descendants of the great fire Lupes My ancestors used to protect the fire faeries... I have no time to play around," said Arkn as he stormed off.

Drkn and I were wondering what made him so irritated. We first paid a visit to the Negg Faerie who exchanged our Neggs for Negg tokens. I then exchanged them for some Sneggs and even some Icestorm Neggs. We then went to the crystal shop where I managed to buy the last Super Ice Sword. The Super Ice Sword would be useful when used with the Attack Fork. By this time, we were getting tired and decided to go book into into the Ski lodge. We soon found Arkn and we both set up to the Terror Mountaint Ski Lodge. I found it rather scary but since we were not going to stay long, I dismissed the eerie feeling at the place. We went out and decided to pay a visit to the Ice Arena. We saw some great matches. We feared for the White Lupe when the Bruce took out two icy snowballs. He was losing and he played dirty. It was due to luck that the White Lupe had an Ice Wand and melted the snowballs. He then finished the match with a Snowglobe Staff as a wicked pelting of snow left the Bruce unconscious.

It was soon night and we began our way back to the Ski lodge. We even chatted to three Poogles, one yellow, one blue and the other one red. They were racing against each other.

On our way back, we heard a cry for help. Arkn rushed ahead as Drkn flew me there. We then saw an injured Snow Faerie being attacked by a monster. It was then that we found out that it was the Ice Devil. Drkn rushed with his lightning speed to distract the Devil while Arkn tried to save the the Snow Faerie. However, Drkn got hurt as in his haste, he forgot his Owl Necklace and the Wand of the Air Faerie was useless against the ice creature. Arkn soon got up and singed the ice devil with the Fire Sword. However, the Devil soon healed as the cold weather helped him cure faster. Arkn was also getting weaker as he could not stand the cold. Just then, the Snow Faerie struggled to me.

"Don't you have better weapons?" she asked.

"I do! But Arkn can't use them. He's a fire Lupe and he can't stand the cold. Besides, he tired and he can't run fast enough in order to attack the Ice Devil without falling off the cliff, " I replied.

The Snow Faerie then got up. She then used a magical weapon I had never seen and soon she was glowing. She then used the weapon on Arkn. Suddenly, Arkn's fiery body began to freeze. Wings then grew out of his body. He then was faster than ever, flying while attacking with the Super Ice sword I just equipped him with. The Ice Devil soon lost. A cold wind blew past, chilling me to the bone as the Ice Devil was gone.

"Thank you dear boyrage. I owe you and your NeoPets a debt of gratitude," said the Snow Faerie

She then used the weapon to heal Drkn. Arkn then swooped down and landed near me.

"As a reward for helping me, Arkn shall be given the ability to morph into an Ice Lupe, just like the mystical ice Lupe that used to protect terror mountain. Dear Drkn, would you like the same powers as Arkn?" asked the Snow Faerie

"I have no use for such powers as I already have wings and I can survive in both hot and cold weathers. I would however, like a weapon as strong as your weapon," said Drkn.

"My weapon is called the Mystical Snow Wand. It is however, a weapon so rare, there is only one in the whole of Neopia The queen Faerie has blessed me with this weapon as I was the only Faerie not to posses a magical weapon. The island Faerie, the soup Faerie and the Negg Faerie have no use for weapons but I need one for protection. I can however, grant to you Drkn, this Genie Orb. It will grant your wishes should you learn how to control it. As for you boyrage, take this scratchcard," with that, the Snow Faerie healed herself and flew away. Arkn then morphed back into his original form. We then decided to be on our way back.

I then found out that the scratchcard was an Icetravaganza scratchcard that could be used to win the jackpot. I hurried to the Scratchcard Kiosk and began scratching. However, I was unlucky as I did not get the jackpot. On our way back, we stumbled on the Ice treasure of 1,342 NPs. It then began a much happier holiday for us. Arkn now had a secret ability and Drkn has a genie orb. I also decided to try steal some of the Snowager's treasure... but that is for another adventure...
