Poor to Middle Class to Rich

by mevam

Let's face it. We all want to have financial security. But less than 5% of us know how to get it. The key word is making and saving Neopoints. I will use my own case to serve as an example. I am rich, but I earned it through my careful planning. My shop is quite small (size 40), and the prices are not super high. So how did I become so rich? Read along to find out.

1. NeoPets care
I have 4 NeoPets, and they used to drain A LOT of my Neopoints. So instead of feeding them each food items I bought, I put them in the Neolodge. There for a combined total of 280 NP, I had my NeoPets healthy and happy for 2 weeks. They were fed, and it does not matter whether you put your pets in the Cockroach Towers or Presidential Palace, since this does not effect their hunger and happiness. Because they were happy in the Neolodge, I did not have to buy them toys, hence another way of saving tons of Neopoints.

2. Shop
My shop contributed so much to my success. The biggest mistake people make with their shops is they upgrade the size to a ridiculous number. My shop size is size 40, and so it can hold 200 items. I will only further upgrade it if I require more space for my items. Why would I want to spend more than 100,000 NP upgrading it to size 100 when there is no way I will require space for 500 items? People would not want to visit my shop because it would take so long to load, so I would be losing money, not gaining it. It is also dumb to upgrade your shop just so that it appears on the Market Map. Consider this, do you regularly go to the Market Map and wait a long time to view shop descriptions? I doubt it! I once went just for a test, and for shops 200-210 it took like 10 minutes to load because people crammed so much HTML junk! More people use the Shop Wizard, and shop size does not play a factor in that.

3. Noticeboard
I cannot begin to tell you that this is the biggest money draining thing in all of NeoPets It is simply outrageous to pay upwards of 200,000 NP just to place an ad there. Most of the ads there are for guilds and shops. If you really want a lot of people to join your guild, why not save the 200,000 NP + it takes to place an ad on the notice board and use it to fund prizes for your guild? I'll bet that prizes and contests are a bigger factor in joining guilds than popularity. Also, in order to gain money from the Noticeboard if you placed an ad for your shop, you would need TONS of items at fair prices. For example, if you paid 400,000 NP for a spot on the Noticeboard, to gain a profit, you would need over 1000 items priced fairly! No one will buy from your shop if you charge 500 NP for a carrot, even if you paid the most for your ad in the Noticeboard.

4. Scams
I have been exposed to hundreds and hundreds of scams ranging from a shop contest claiming you can win 1,000,000 NP if you purchase 100,000 worth of items, to fake staff members asking for my password. The only pieces of advice I can give you are these: *NEVER ever give out your password to anyone! NeoPets staff will NEVER ask for yours. *Always look for offers that are too good to be true. For example, if someone claims they will give you an account worth 600,000 NP if you bid the most NP, remember that this offer is impossible to be carried out. *ALWAYS report scammers and hackers to NeoPets staff. That way, you can help prevent these tragic things from happening to other less aware people. I hope you have learned something from what I have written. It is not impossible to gain financial stability. All it takes is some common sense and planning. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me.
