The New Sister

“Why don’t you take that thing, and shove it up your nose?!” My brothers and I roared with laughter. We were watching a comedy on TV. Our owner, dark_mystra (dark for short) bought it for us a month ago. We were eating Cheesy Neos and lying on the couch like the average couch potatoes. Just then, dark entered the room. She looked happy and excited. She grabbed her bag and walked briskly to the door.

“I’m going out for a while. Speedy, come with me,” she said.

“Bye dark, bye goldie,” I said absentmindedly, paying full attention to the TV.

Everyone knew golden_mystra (goldie for short) was dark’s favourite. Goldie slapped the back of my head.

“Dark’s talking to you, scatterbrain. I’m not the only favourite, you know,” he said.

I was surprised dark wanted me to go with her. I didn’t want to waste her time so I ran straight towards the door and opened it.

“Let’s go, then,” I said.

Although I had no idea where we were going, I just followed dark. She’s a great owner and I don’t want to disrespect her.

“I’m sure you’re wondering where we’re going,” she said finally. “Well, this may be a surprise to you, but we’re going to get you a sister.”

I gasped at what she said. I have always been the middle child and the only girl. I have never thought that dark would get a sister for me.

“Uh, what’s she going to be?” was all I could ask.

“You’ll see,” said dark as we reached the create-a-pet center.

We queued up at the Cybunny counter. There were only a few people there. I was wondering why we were at the Cybunny counter. The Cybunny had been limited and there were no more left to create. However, I proved to be wrong. As our turn came, I saw loads of Cybunnies there.

“I would like a blue Cybunny,” said dark to the Uni at the counter.

The Uni took a blue Cybunny and put it on the counter. “And her name?” asked the Uni Dark pondered about this. She gave me a look that said, “What do you think?”

I looked at the Cybunny It was so small and cute. It had a lot of spots on the neck. In fact, it had the most spots among all the Cybunnies there. “It sure looks spotty,” I said.

“You hit the nail right on the head as usual. Her name will be spotty_mystra!” she said to the Uni

So, spotty_mystra was born. We took her home and showed her to shadow and goldie. They looked at her with great interest.

“Wow, she’s cute!” said shadow.

“Yeah. She’s something,” said goldie. He cuddled his new sister and she sucked on his paw. “I’m going to like her,” he said.

A month has passed. Spotty grew to be very smart. I liked her, I guess. I wasn’t jealous, I just felt strange. I had always been the only girl, but now, I have a sister. It needed some getting used to. Well, for one thing, I had to learn to stop treating her like a boy. All my friends and siblings loved to battle, except spotty. She was so frightened of battling. She was too timid. I used to tease her about the Cybunny who got her butt kicked by an-hour-old Jubjub.

Well, I’m painted white now. I have a boyfriend (love ya, Wintenscha!), a cute Warf as a pet, and 2 abilities. My siblings are all painted and everyone had a great life. I was on my way to school one day when I met up with a couple of Lupes, asking for a smack. They were ugly and they kept following me. Furthermore, my school was quite far. Finally, I stopped and confronted them.

“What is your problem?” I asked them.

They just snickered and a fire Lupe came up to me. I assumed he was their leader. “Nothin’. It’s just that we just declared this road as our turf. We don’t like Usuls, especially white ones who walk around like the Faerie Queen,” he sneered.

I made a sound of disgust and turned to walk away. Suddenly, the fire Lupe grabbed my arm and pulled me back. “Hey, we’re not finished with you! You have to be taught a lesson for trespassing on our turf!” he said and he pulled his paw back to give me a mind-crushing blow.

I ducked and kicked him in the guts. He howled and the rest of his group ran at full speed, attempting to ram me. “They don’t call me speedy for nothing!” I shouted as I leaped out of the way and delivered a hard kick to the nearest Lupe However, I wasn’t fast enough to dodge an incredibly hard blow from my left. I was thrown off my feet and I landed in a heap. “Ouch,” I muttered. They were about to attack me again when someone said, “Hey, pick on someone your own size!”

Suddenly, a whirlwind came out of nowhere and blew the Lupes to the nearest trash can. They got up and ran off, yelping all the way. Then, the whirlwind stopped and spotty appeared. “Hah! That’ll teach ‘em to mess with my sister,” she said. I was surprised to see spotty, even more surprised when I thought about what she just did. She couldn’t win a fight with a level one Jubjub!

“W-what are you doing here? And how did you do that?” I asked her, still smarting from the blow.

“Well, you left one of your books and I ran after you to give them to you. About the whirlwind attack, let’s just say the Air Faerie just felt that I was strong enough to get that ability,” she said with a shy smile.

From that day, I gained a new respect for spotty and stopped teasing her about how weak she was. We became the best of friends and always had each others' backs.
