Wow! My very own shop! These were probably the words that drifted through
your mind when you saw the option at NeoPets. You could create your own
shop, sell NeoPet items, and make some extra Neopoints. But then, there
are the Neopians who have not created shops yet. So this article contains
tips for both shop owners and Neopians pondering whether or not they should
purchase a shop on their account.
For Newbies
What is a shop, you ask? Well, a shop is a just what it's labeled, a shop.
You can purchase your very own shop buy clicking on Shops on the main
menu. Then in the toolbar there will be a picture of a brown house-like
shop. Click that and click create/edit a shop if you want to create a
shop for a reasonable price of 250 NP! Of course, you will have to upgrade
the shop to hold more than 5 items(you can hold many items...you can upgrade
over 20 times! but the price of upgrading gets pricier and higher) After
purchasing the shop, you must purchase items to hold in the shop or add
your items to the shop! You can add creative characters as shop keeper
graphics. Neopians can then purchase those items from your shop and you
can earn money in your Shop Till by clicking Sales History.
For Your Shop
Many Neopians love to put foods in their shops. Food goes quickly because
it is an essential item for the care of NeoPets. Other shop keepers sell
rare and expensive items such as Codestones, Faeries, Plushies, Paintbrushes,
and Magic items. Rare and expensive items are sold quickly by the richer
Neopians and you can earn a lot of Neopoints! Grooming supplies, foods,
books, and trading cards are great for starter shop keepers. Then work
up to more advanced items and be sure to upgrade your shop to about 3
or 4 if you are middle-poor class Neopian. I personally love to include
a variety of items in my shop.
Prices of Items In Your Shop
Your items need to have a prices. Firstly, check the Shop Wizard for the
estimated selling price of the object. Try to sell it for less than the
average price on Shop Wizard or sell it for less than its value. Don't
expand your prices too much! Plushies are definitely not worth 100,000
NP. I think you get my drift.
Optional Contests In Your Shop
Many shop keepers hold contests in their shops. If you purchase a certain
mystery item, you may get a prize. And there are also contests for Neopians
who purchase the most items! But don't be tricked! Save your Neopoints
and beware of scam contests in shops! If objects in a shop are over 15,000
NP, the contest may likely be a scam! Make sure to make your prices reasonable
when holding contests and assure your customers they have a chance of
winning! Don't promise your winners NP, because Neopoints can NOT be given
to other users(by yourself). You can give away bonus items! But remember,
when shopping in other shops there are scams! Don't be tricked!
Cartoon Dolls, Graphics, Banners In Your Shop
With a simple code you can add cartoon dolls, graphics, and banners to
your shop! You can also add links and more! Just add the code to the SHOP
DESCRIPTION area of your shop area. You can find these codes all over
the Web! At the moment, I do not know all the codes to add backgrounds,
links, graphics, banners, or so on in your shop, but I do know the cartoon
doll code! You can find codes for backgrounds and so on on the Web. You
must find the properties of the cartoon doll. Keep the quotation marks.
Restocking Your Shop
Your shop needs to be restocked every once in a while! Make sure you check
your shop once a day and add items to your shop when your shop is low!
This can help quite a bit! Also, check your Shop Till for Neopoints!
Gratitude For Shoppers
Be sure to reward shoppers with a very short Neomail! Just a short "Thank
You" message to some of your shoppers. Maybe you can make some NeoFriends
and send out some bonus items!
Advertising Your Shop
Advertise your shop in CHAT! Go to Shop Ads and create a board. Don't
say that you are poor and need money so please shop at my shop, but tell
shop crazy Neopians the truth about your shop. Don't make promises you
can't keep and be sure to include funky smiley graphics:

There are plenty more to make your shop ad more attractive!
All in all, shops are a great way to spend time on NeoPets. You can sell
items and make Neopoints quickly. It is also fun to make new NeoFriends
from checking your Sales History. But always beware of scams and don't
spend too much money on your shop! And do not ignore your shop! It needs
to be watched to upgrade and restock! Shops are a fulfilling part of NeoPets!
