Contrary to popular belief, the prices of food in Neopia are not extravagant.
So there are a few food items that sell for a thousand NP - don't feed
your pet them! Slushies, smoothies, apples, and milkshakes can all be
found for well under 20 Neopoints in the marketplace - Organic Red Apples
are often selling for 15 or less, and you get two servings out of those!
20 Neopoints is not the equivalent of twenty dollars.
If you don't have money, the best thing to do is make some - obviously!
Lots of people say that you really need a shop. That's not true. I make
at least 2000 NP a day simply by playing games. Pokematch, Kiko Match,
Poogle Solitaire, and Chiazilla vs. MechChiazilla [if you can't get the
hang of the last one, Neomail me].
But shops are a very good addition to your normal salary. If you have
a fast computer, you can buy a Faerie or two from the magic shop at 90
NP, sell it for 3000, and be the cheapest in the marketplace. Which brings
me to my main point about shops: BE CHEAP. Try to be the lowest in the
marketplace. Have monthly sales. You make a profit, the buyer gets a cheap
item. Everyone wins.
One problem people have is that they always seem to spend their money
really quickly. My solution: Set a goal, like: "I will not buy another
Codestone until I have 20,000 NP." Buy your pets a few CHEAP toys - they
don't need Magical Purple Poogle Toys when a Yellow Bouncy Ball is just
as good. Your pets don't care how much they cost. Stockpile some food
and DON'T BUY ANYTHING EXCEPT YOUR SHOP. Put all your profits in the bank
until you get a sufficient amount of money. And remember: If you're planning
to be the best in the Battledome, prepare to be poor - with the average
Faerie at 3500 NP, strengthening your pet can be pretty pricey.
One final thing: Don't go begging for food. At one point in time my best
friend had 17 NP and no items. She managed to get up to 10,000 NPs - by
playing games. You pay little or nothing and get a lot back. So don't
give up.
Okay, so I lied - here's the final thing. Remember, NeoPets is a game.
It's meant to be fun. It doesn't matter if you have 8 million or 8 Neopoints,
just as long as you keep everything in perspective [and are nice to your
pets :)]
