Pound Pets, More Species to Choose From

I often go into the pound, just to look at all the pets. I used to see nothing but Bruces, Grarrls, Skeiths and Grundos, and maybe the odd Scorchio. Now I go in and I am seeing Chias, Eyries (who were Tatsus when they were put in the pound), Flotsams, Jetsams, Gelerts, Lupes, Fuzios, Peophins, Acaras, Lennys.... oh the list goes on. Is there a trend in Neopia to dump your pets just every time they redesign a pet and you think it looks better? Is there a trend to dump your pet after it has been redesigned itself? Is there a trend to adopt a pet, decide you don't like it soon afterwards, and dump it?

I never see Poogles, Cybunnies or Kacheeks in there, because they are CUTE and very POPULAR pets, so what happens when NeoPets brings in another 10,000 Poogles or something like that? BOOM! The pound fills up with all sorts of species of NeoPets that are dumped for a cuter pet. Sometimes, I know it's necessary to dump pets because you either can't care for them anymore or you are leaving NeoPets, but other IRRESPONSIBLE owners (sorry, had to let that out) abandon their pets, some who are at least 60 days old, to get a Poogle or a Cybunny or something else like that. Remember when an Acara was a Tigren?

People dashed to get this cute pet, and when it became an Acara, they began to go bye bye. The new look Bruce is much cuter, and that should help people get the Bruce (who was doing quite badly adoption wise), but what about those Lupe, Gelert etc. owners who want a cute pet but have four pets already? Sorry Mr. Lupe, Mr. Gelert, Mr. etc., it's to the Pound for you, and there you shall probably stay for months and months, until some kind Neopian adopts you or the pet gets deleted from the system all together.

Now, about the naming issue. I saw a very cute blue Shoyru called boyoustink, now that's a REALLY big turn-off for most Neopians wanting to have decent named pets. I adopted a blue Shoyru from the pound called TinySaiyan, and therefore named myself after it, because it was important to me. I take pride in my adopted NeoPet, even though it's quite weak.

I don't care about stats, because at the end of the day it's the NeoPet that counts. NeoPets may not roll over and let you scratch their belly, or chase sticks in the park, but they are there because you PUT them there, and by doing so you take on the responsibility of that pet. Abandoning it after a week shows what a cruel and lazy person you really are, and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Please don't create pets, there are SO many different pets in the Pound looking for homes, and not all their names are bad! Oh yeah, I think the Acara should de-evolve back into the Tigren, but not everyone will agree. Look me up sometime and see how TinySaiyan's getting on!
