Rojak

by sportsger

What is rojak? I think all Singaporeans should know but the others? Here's the answer: rojak is a dish where there are many stuff mixed together, thus rojak means 'mix' in Singapore. Yup, today my article is about several components, basically a run through of everything.

Firstly, the creation of pets. There are always pets in the pound for adoption, so why do you need to create some more pets? Sometimes if you are lucky, you might even find a pet above level 1 with good stats. You must be responsible to take care of a pet and raise it properly.

The basic need of the pet is food. There are many types of food available around Neopia. One may always grumble about how fast the stock at the main shop are gone. But if you really want to feed hungry pets, the chocolate shop is an alternative. Chocolates are cheap and they tend to sell out slower. Also there are shops owned by the players that sells cheap food including mine. Although stocks really go fast.

Next I'll be going into details of different shops...

Main food store: stocks really go out fast. But if you enjoy the privilege of having high speed modem, you can get some food at around 10 NP and sell them for 15 NP. You can earn some money, not a lot, but you can also help those who need the food.

Chocolate store: If your pet is hungry, this is a good place to fill its stomach.

PetPets, books shop: Usually PetPets/books sold in the main shops are more expensive except those rare PetPets/books. Common books usually can be found at 5 NP with the Shop Wizard.

Magic shops, snow food: These are really good place to earn money, when you have a really fast modem. Because the stock goes faster than a cheetah. With this amazing speed, even a 56.6k modem can't grab more than a couple of items. So the cable modem user (like me *grin*) has an advantage.

Seafood: You can also earn money, ranging from 50 NP-700 NP, here. But you need to know exactly what stuff can be sold for NP. Stuff like frozen fish gel and fishy nibbles can fetch more than 500 NP. However, urchines and sea pineapples can only be sold under cost price.

Weapons, defence, snow weapons: These are shops that Battledomers frequent. Some of the items can fetch money.

Now, I separate NeoPets players into several groups...

1. The pets lovers: These players always put their pets in the first place. But I think there're not many of us out there who would be satisfied just to provide their pets with basic needs like cheap food/toys/books. Most of us want a richer account so here comes the second group...

2. The money grabbers: We might hate to admit it but, most of us like NP. 'Money is not everything, but without money there's nothing', this goes for Neopia too, right? So many of us want to earn more NPs, so here are some tips:

Set up a shop, it's the basic need! If you are too stingy to even start a shop, forget about earning money. Next, games are important too, as everyone knows, simple games like Kiko match give you NPs The treasure hunt is good too if you are patient to click here click there (which I'm not =P). Buying stuff from the main shops and selling them in your shops can earn NPs too. In fact, this is the main source of income. Random events also give you items so click around the site (grumbled at the thought of the pants devil). From my point of view, Gambling is never a good way to earn NP. But if you have extra NP, the stock market is good to win some NP because I have never seen stocks going below 4, so buying those stocks can earn some quick NP.

3. The Battledomers: The releasing of the Battledome is great news to most of us. I have tried it many times and I really enjoy it. Here's a tip for all Battledomers out there: weapons and defensive items, not the stats, are the most important in the domes. With good items, level 8 can easily beat level 15. Of course, you should always train your pets to improve their stats.

Find Codestones too expensive? Look into the auction house. Stones sold in auction are always cheaper than the Shop Wizard. Honestly, I don't find faeries a great help cause you need to use power to exercise your abilities. And power goes out fast! But you should get the ability 'heal', I think that's the most important ability.

4. The item collectors: Neopia has many many many items, with the toys offered in different colours, donuts in different flavours, paintbrushes in different patterns, it is very difficult for us to come across ALL of them. Some rich Neopians like to collect them and I guess it's really fun too. I think I might do the same thing if I have the NP, why don't you guys sponsor me? *wink* OK, back to the topic. If you are an item collector, you can always just search a letter in the wizard and if you keep hitting refresh, you might see items that you never see before. Not-too-rich Neopians like me *sigh* can also visit different shops to look at the items. You might be surprised by the variety.

5. The social leaders: I'm just talking about those who want to set up a successful guild in Neopia. I think that is really difficult. I've tried once but I found most of my members are inactive, after a while I had closed that guild. Anyway. I think we should stop creating guilds. There're so many guilds out there with only one person, the creator. NeoPets is going to be overloaded in no time! Why don't you join an existing guild, you can also be a council member there. And you should not join guilds just to get an item. If you join that guild, get an item, then stick with it! For those who think guilds are useless, actually there are some which really help out people, some which have fun among themselves, some which hold interesting contests constantly, some which always battle among themselves. I may not have categorized every single one of you but I think the majority fall into one or more of the groups, including me.

Lastly I just want to talk about the rich-against-poor debate. Yeah, I know you must be thinking... not again. But I'm gonna make it short. The raise of the price in the shops is necessary. You can't expect to find popular stuff in the shops selling at the same price at the main stores. We spent patience at the main stores refreshing refreshing and refreshing, a slight raise is just the pay back of our 'labour'.

Also, I think the poor should stop grumbling about the rich becoming richer and poor becoming, well, poorer. I had suffered before coming off with this rather rich account. And grumbles don't make things work out. There are many guilds out there helping out those that need help. Not all Neopians are selfish. For example my guild is a helping guild and we DO offer help. If you really look for help, a lot of people in Neopia will lend you a helping hand. Even posting a message in the chat board can be effective. Instead of grumbling, look for help when you need it. And if anyone reading this article needs financial help, tips or anything, me and my guild members are willing to help you out. Just don't be afraid to ask. =)

Yes I'm ending this article, don't rush me! Just a last and most important sentence: Never give out your password or the URL of your Neodrive!

I hope this article is interesting for everyone. And I'm sorry if I have offended anyone. If you guys think that you don't mind reading another article from me, about Battledome tips and tips, then drop me a Neomail.
