The Legend of the Air Faerie: Part One

by dragonmagic1313

“Grandpa Air Faerie, tell me a story!” ordered the 8-year-old Air Faerie named Little Mystic.

“What about the legend of the first Air Faerie?” asked Grandpa Air Faerie.

“Okay!” said Little Mystic happily. The two Faeries sat down on the couch and Grandpa Air Faerie started to tell the story.

Faerlu (Fair-lew), a tiny silver cross between a Lupe and a Water Faerie, was born the stroke of midnight on July 19, 1972. She looked up at her parents, a blue-grey Lupe, her father, and the Water Faerie her mother. Faerlu grew into a creature with her upper body (from her chest up) Faerie-like, and her lower half Lupe-like. She was cold blue all over. But she had one green eye and one yellow eye. No one could figure that out. Loops, her father, had grey eyes, and the Water Faerie (Ree for short) had purple-blue eyes. The story begins one summer morning, two days before Faerlu’s 11th birthday…

It had been a month after Faerlu had handed out her birthday party invitations. Not one person had called saying they were coming besides her relatives and Faerlu’s only friend, Jessii, a green-eyed pink Kacheek. Faerlu sat down and cried. Ree walked over to her and frowned. “What’s wrong, Faerlu?” she asked.

“Oh, mom, no one is coming to my party except Aunt and Uncle Gelert and Grandma and Grandpa Aisha!” cried Faerlu.

“They’re probably just busy,” said Loops, walking in.

“But everyone went to Full Moon the Tatsu’s swimming party!” said Faerlu.

She was also having a swimming party, but one better than Full Moon’s. She was having hers at Mystery Island! Full Moon had just gone to the local pool in Neopia! Faerlu cried harder. “Why don’t you invite Jessii over?” suggested Ree.

“No! She’s popular! I’m just a crossbred NeoPet!” yelled Faerlu, “No! I’m not even a NeoPet…I’m part Faerie!” Faerlu cried even harder now.

“I’M TIRED OF YOU DISCUSSING OUR FAMILY LIKE THAT!” screamed Ree, “GO TO YOUR ROOM!”

Faerlu sagged her Faerie-like half down so it was almost touching the floor. She climbed the stairs and slammed her door.

Faerlu kicked around her Blue Lupe Plush toy. She used to like it when she was little because she looked like Loops. Not anymore. She liked her Rainbow Boom Box and her CD, NeoHits Volume One and her special Fuzzie Bear. Faerlu picked up her old Fuzzie and hugged him. “That’s it!” she whispered. “I’m running away!” Faerlu picked up her duffel bag and threw her favourite books and toys in. She looked sadly at her Rainbow Boom Box. She didn’t know if where she was heading, wherever she went, had any electricity.

Faerlu sighed and packed her scarf, hat, and coat. She also packed her pillow and sleeping bag, and a few boxes of NeoCrackers and her Cooler. She placed some assorted types of Snow Food and Slushies inside it. She knew where she was going now. Faerlu was heading to the Ice Caves. Faerlu packed her last thing. Her life savings of Neopoints. All 5,000 of them went into her duffel bag. Faerlu opened her window and used her Faerie wings to soar away. Faerlu flew for a long time.

Finally, at 1:07 PM, she needed to land for some food. She quickly landed on a hill and opened a bag of NeoCrackers. She ate it all and was still hungry. Luckily, it was summertime. Faerlu took out a Snow Sub and let the sun have at it. She sat down next to it and waited 1 hour for it to melt.
