The Last Bowl of Soup: Part Three

by Littlestarfaerie

Cartoons came up, all whirled around and we tried to guess what it was. We thought about the choices and decided that it was Dexter. Then, we clicked all four times and suddenly a sign came up on the screen. CONGRATULATIONS! YOU'VE WON! Money poured out of the machine. Two hundred Neopoints! We played again. Three hundred! Carrie and I gave whoops of joy. Soon Carrie straightened herself out. "Now we mustn't act too silly." And with that, we fastened our raincoats and left the Games emporium as a lady screamed: "BINGO!" Boy, was she right.

When we got outside the sun was shining and the rain was only drizzling, leaving a damp feeling in the air. We decided we had better hurry to the bank. When we got to the big black castle which had about fifty radar dishes and alarms around it. Carrie pressed a button. A Cerpull's voice said: "Acuwnt Numba?" It was nearly closing time and he was very bored.

"Seventy two," Carrie whispered through the intercom. The door swung open and revealed an aging Cerpull wearing a suit and grey tie.

"He's ugly," I whispered.

"Frellielle!" said Carrie shocked.

Just then he came back with a big bag. Shaking, Carrie placed the money all in except for one hundred Neopoints. The Cerpull grunted and left to put it in our tiny vault, and quickly saying good-bye, we left.

"WE DID IT!" she cried. "We have money!"

We danced all the way to the shops and there, in the main square was a sign telling us that all the shops were to restock SEVEN, whole, beautiful times a day. We went into the food store, and lo and behold, there was food! The famine was over!

***

That night there was a carnival in which a lot of shops began to give away food, such as the health shoppe and the chocolate factory, though we had a hard time seeing the owner (who was surrounded by huge piles of chocolate Chias). When morning came all us tired pets and owners went home and slept for a long, long time.

The next morning I found Carrie in the living room with her glasses on, adding up some figures. "What are you doing Carrie?" I asked.

"Adding up our debts," she said. "We owe a lot of money to people, and we can't leave our home until the mortgage is sorted out," she replied, frowning. "Mathematics was never my strong point."

"But what about all our bank money!" I cried, despairing.

"That only just covers our debts. Look Frellielle, If we sell our house, with the mortgage, though not many people would take a ramshackle mortgaged house, then, with our new clothes, we put everything in the shop, sell it all and then leave Neopia Central, for somewhere better. We can get a ticket on the train, or take a cheap boat out to the island, though that takes a lot longer because we need totems for that."

This was all said in one breath apart for pauses and relatively fast. My mind was buzzing. Leave central? Go to the island, a train, sell everything?

It was Autumn when you heard from me last. Lots of changes have come to Neopia since. THREE new worlds have been discovered, and I'm going on a journey with Carrie. We've somehow got totems, ice and island, and we EVEN found a Codestone, so I'm going to be trained by the master himself on Mystery Island! It's going to be Christmas soon, and the Advent Calendar in the big market square is giving out MONEY! Carrie and I got 2000 NEOPOINTS and a toffee ice-cream today! It's all great! We recently signed up for an ice totem and we're going to the ice caves after I've been to the master on Mystery Island.

Even though we're rich now, there are still many hungry pets out there. Pets who, like me and my Owner Carrie, were forced to the Money Tree and the Soup Kitchen to survive! So once you've finished reading this, go to the Money Tree and give a little hope to those that may need it. Thank You!
