Neo Inflation

by Jeremy Borders

Many of you out there are suffering because of inflation. What inflation means is that the worth of 1 Neopoint is going down. This causes prices to go up. A bad thing. In my opinion, this is happening for two reasons: 1) The player owned shops are overpricing some items, and 2) There are more people and more Neopoints in Neopia today.

The recent boom in the Neopian population has created a pit of sorts. More people consume more food, more space, and Neopia ends up feeling a bit crowded. Some players find it hard to get low-priced food because the main Neopian shops are always sold out! This happens because of the population thing. Not enough food to go around all the time. So what do you do when you need food and the main shops don't have it?

Most players will then either turn to the soup kitchen or player-owned shops. That's all fine, but the player shops are starting to raise their prices. Since there are so many player shops, and the shop wizard searches a different area each time, you may find yourself not being able to afford what you need.

Now that I've explained about Neopian inflation, let me tell you what we can do about it. In a word: Boycott. Only of overpriced shops and items, but that encompasses a lot. Most unnecessary items, such as codestones, map pieces, and faeries would have to be completely boycotted. The prices for codestones today is more than twice what they're worth. Faeries are even worse. How do you make prices go down? Force them down! Don't buy them if they're priced too high! Even if it's the lowest price available!

This may or may not be your cup of hot Borovan, but given enough support it will work. Keep in mind, codestones will continue to be found, as will map pieces and other items. If you have any questions, contact me or the Guild of Shadows. Someone will be happy to answer your questions.
