There have been many complaints over the high prices in Neopia, but I
have a complaint that may seem a bit of an odd one, to most. I would like
to express my displeasure with those that feel the need to lower prices
beyond what the items are worth. New toys were introduced recently and
instead of pricing the toys at about 100 hundred more than they were bought
for (as was expected), the toys are priced for as much as 50 Neopoints
below the original price.
In the past I have naively bought hard-to-get items in, for example,
Maraqua for a couple hundred NP but when I try to sell them I quickly
discover that same item is selling for only 30 NP in most shops (the Sea
Taco, in case anyone is interested). I realize a lot of these items are
semi-worthless (ahem, *Slushies!*), but I am sending out a plea that you
sell things at, at least, the price you bought them for. I agree that
faeries and food sell for WAY too much at times, but those subjects are
way beyond any hope of rebirth.
I understand that sometimes things are just not selling, such as books
or unknown items (those darn party hats that are rotting in my shop),
and in those situations it’s acceptable to mark your prices down. The
thought needed in these situations is the same consideration to actions
performed in the real world, people need to consider how their actions
are affecting others. The only way to sell something is to have the lowest
price and if you sell an item far below it’s worth then you are dragging
down the prices for those who may desperately need to sell something.
To play happily in Neopia, it’s necessary for us to consider others feelings.
So, next time you buy something rare or new and are tempted to sell it
at the lowest price possible, take a glance at what others are selling
the same item for. You may be surprised at how cheaply you can sell it
and still get enough of a profit to stay afloat.
