I was only a little Poogle when I was abandoned. I remember parts of
it clearly and others I don't remember at all. Well, here it goes...
It was early morning. We had just checked the money tree for some Neopoints
when my old owner remembered she had a bank account with a few Neopoints
left in it. She quickly hurried me and my siblings to the bank were she
took out all she had. That was 100 Neopoints. She grabbed me by the
scruff of my neck and pulled me along a path to a big building. The look
of that building made a chill run down my back. It had four bleak windows
in the front where you could see pets in cages. It had a cold hard look
to it, which scared me very much! I was only an hour old then and didn't
know what it was. My owner threw me through a door and we walked up to
a desk. There she sat an old lady with her brown hair pulled back into
a tight bun. She had a wart right above her lip which didn't look very
attractive. I looked beyond the lady, to down the hall.
There were two large doors one with the words ADOPT written on it. That
sign glowed and cheery voices came from there. The other door had the
words ABANDON on it. I heard moans and complaints coming from there. The
sign didn't glow. It looked dirtier than the building itself. I shuddered
as I took in all the sights around me. "GET OVER HERE GREENSTRIPS!!" my
old owner yelled. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me over to her.
She whacked my rump with an old piece of paper. My squeal echoed through
the halls. The old lady from behind the desk seized my ear and dragged
me over to the ABANDON door.
"No!! Please! I'll be good, don't abandon me!!" I yelped as my
owner walked away. The tears I had been holding back all day finally escaped.
The lady who wore a badge that said Ms. Worley on it, threw me into a
cage with a depressed looking Kacheek.
"Hi" he said brightly. I sniffed.
"How can you be so happy?" I questioned. The Kacheek's eyes grew big
and very round. "I have been here awhile, and I have never had a cage-mate.
I have asked and asked Warty Worley, that's the lady with the bun and
wart above her lips. Us pets call her that because she is M-E-A-N!! Anyway,"
the Kacheek continued, "I finally have my wish. To have a friend!! What
I really want is an owner..." his voiced trailed off. Nobody spoke for
a moment, except for the other pets complaining.
Finally, "Well, my name is Greenstrips, I am a level 1 Poogle," I introduced
myself.
The Kacheek grinned. "I am," he puffed his chest out proudly, "I am Tenchi757,
but you can call me Chi-Chi, that's what my old owner called me. "His
eyes filled up with tears and so did mine. We both at the same moment,
burst out into tears. That's when my present owner, mandiwandi88, walked
in with Warty Worley. She glanced around at all the crying pets, at their
thin bodies and pathetic eyes pleading with her to adopt them all. You
could see in her eyes, she despised Warty Worley, she knew we weren't
being fed, or taken care of. She spotted us and walked, slowly, towards
our cage. She kneeled down and reached in, she softly pulled me out and
rocked me. My stomach growled, I hadn't been fed since last week. She
shot a disapproving look at Warty Worley. I gestured towards Chi-Chi and
she picked him up with the same tenderness she had used on me.
"I will take them both!" she said firmly to Warty Worley.
"Well, you can take only one, we don't let people take two at a time!"
exclaimed an annoyed Worley.
"I don't care, I want them both.. I will pay extra but I am not leaving
until I get them both!!" my owner retorted hotly.
"Hummphh..." Warty Worley snorted.
My owner paid for us and left. She looked down at us kindly. "What's
your name??" she questioned us. Of course, Chi-Chi puffed out his chest
again and said, "My name is Tenchi757, and I am a level 1 green Kacheek
You may call me Chi-Chi" she added. My owner laughed at Chi-Chi's boldness.
"And yours??" she asked again. "Umm..." I said timidly, "My name
is, well, it's Greenstrips but my other owner called me brat, I don't
know what that means but you can call me that too if you want," I said.
Secretly I knew brat didn't mean a good thing but I wasn't sure what
it meant exactly. My owner frowned as she looked at me... "No," she said,
"I will call you Tiasa, by the way my name is mandiwandi but you can call
me mandi," she said politely. "Are you hungry? Because I am S-T-A-R-V-E-D!!
Want to go to the Burger Buns?? I love that place!" she said.
I just stared. Burger Buns?? I had NEVER been in there. My old owner
said it was much too expensive. "Bu-burger Buns?? Are you sure?? It might
be too expensive!" I stammered.
Mandi looked down at me and smiled. "Hunny, you don't have to worry about
expense!"she said kindly. "Things are going to be very different from
the old way. Do you like the color blue?? I have some collars at my house
if you would like one!" Mandi said.
It was then I knew things were going to be different. They were going
to improve. "Sure!" I agreed, "I could go for a burger or maybe even a
Neo taco!" I said. Mandi just smiled.
That's Greenstrips memory of being abandoned. Please don't abandoned
pets. It's not fair! If you are looking for a pet to adopt why don't you
visit the adoption center. I hope that the old owner of Greenstrips will
not be mad at me for writing this article. Also, remember adoption is
the option!
