Nerkmids: Assets or Liabilities?

Many people consider Nerkmids to be great assets, as they can get you food at The Alien Aisha Vending Machine. But do they get you your money's worth? I decided to investigate.

I went around neopia buying Nerkmids of all kinds, ranging from lesser to ultimate. Every day I went to the AAVM, and put in a Nerkmid.

Of the lesser Nerkmids, I usually got food ranging from 400-900np's.

Average Nerkmid: 500-1100np's

Good Nerkmid: 600-1600

Super Nerkmid: 900-1900

Ultra Nerkmid: 1600-3000

Ultimate Nerkmid: 7000-15500

I took a little poll with some people around the site, asking if they use Nerkmids, and/or if they rely on them to bring in revenue. Most of them answered, "No, I don't use Nerkmids,"as I expected. There was also an occasional comment of "They're just money-wasters" and "I lost most of my money there. Buying a Nerkmid, then recieving food less than 3/4 worth of what I paid."

But then there were a few people who had quite different responses, such as "Yeah, I like Nerkmids. They're worth lots so I sell them or use them at the AAVM" and "Nerkmids are great! I get great food items when I use them."

Now I'm not saying that all Nerkmids are bad. Just look at the Vending Machine Winners Page. There was one win by (not shown for security reasons) which recieved over 41,500np as a reward. But the majority of the people who use/used Nerkmids are just not getting their money's worth. Some are just plain lucky, while others are very unfortunate.

If you are rich, it really wouldn't matter whether or not you bought them or what prize you recieved. You're rich! What does it matter? But for those poor Neopians, who barely have enough np left over for themselves, you're better off not spending all your savings on Nerkmids. Save up a fair bit before trying something risky.
