The Neopian Adventure: Part Two - An Average Day

by _drake_

The first thing that Jake noticed when he stepped out into the sunlight was that the creatures that had accompanied him were gone. But something else was different...this wasn't Florida. He saw a man walking past with a large red bird and walked up to him.

"Hey, could you tell me where I am exactly?" Jake asked.

But to his surprise it wasn't the boy who answered. "Whtchu blindnd? Disis Neopian Central. Or is shu ash newabie?"

Jake was blown back by the fact the oversized bird spoke - and knew what he was saying. Most birds just mimic.

"Hey, Rob. Don't be mean. Be nice, he doesn't known much, he hasn't been registered yet," the boy said, "So, you are new here? If you are, there's the registration tower. Just press a button, but choose carefully. It's pretty fun. In fact, I have a friend who changes everyday, which makes it very hard for me to recognize him, and he always sneaks up on me. Well, good luck," he said.

"Umm... sure," said Jake.

The boy walked on. Only now Jake noticed that it wasn't only humans in the crowd. He saw a big snake slithering along with a smaller creature accompanying it. Everyone had a smaller "pet" following them. There were hawks being followed by small unicorns and a dragon being followed by another, smaller dragon. He reached the tower and circled it. The tower was no more than four meters wide, and a perfect cylinder, but no entrance. Jake leaned against the tower and thought to himself. He looked up to find the green dragon twenty feet away standing there, waiting. He walked up to it. It took a couple of steps back, then hopped back. He had hopped over a square hole containing stairs.

"C'mon! They're waiting!"

He left Jake standing there, mouth hanging open. Animals don't talk...Or do they? Jake shrugged and followed. Soon he was under the tower, and going up a spiral staircase about one hundred feet tall. After a long climb, Jake finally reached the top, he was in a room with a machine that looked like a cylinder stood upright. It had about one thousand buttons in it and each one had a symbol- a silhouette of some creatures Jake had never seen. He stepped forward to examine it.

"So, are you ready?" Jake whipped around.

This time it was the blue dragon talking. He seemed to be the leader of the three. "Ready for what?" Jake asked.

"Ready to give up everything you have. Ready to change your life. To join this world and forget your own. And most of all, to chase your fate and capture it."

Jake nodded."Yes, I am."

"Good. Then enter the registration machine." Jake stepped into the machine and examined the symbols.

"What are these for?" Jake asked.

"Why don't you press one and see?" the yellow ferret said.

"Well, okay..." he said Jake closed his eyes and pressed a button. "Here goes nothing!"

As soon as Jake pressed the button, a green aura surrounded him. His vision blurred and he seemed to rise higher and his eyes spread apart. Large, feathered wings of white spread from his shoulder blades as his skin became green and scaly. Jake let out a scream as his face stretched out into a large orange beak and his scream soon became a screech as his vocal cords stretched and changed. He fell to the ground as his arms shrank into nothing and his legs vanished he thudded to the ground. His body elongated into that of ten feet. The tip of his body came to a tip and he felt his new tail splitting into three points with a webbed skin connecting them. Suddenly, he stopped screaming. It was as if a book had been stuffed into his mind. The yellow ferret was a Zarfara. He was in Neopia. This was his fate. He had to catch it.
