Jake is an average guy, living somewhere in Florida and has no knowledge
of Neopia. But fate has more in store for him than he bargained for....
"Son? Could you do me a favour?" Jake's dad called.
"Sure, just a minute!" Jake hurried up the conversation as he typed
into his laptop. Sorry, Brian, but I have to go. My dad needs something.
I'll be back in an hour. Bye. Jake wiped sweat off his forehead.
"Geez, it sure is hot in here... " he said, as he reached for the window.
"A little air won't - huh?" As he opened the window, a shadowy figure
leaped from the flower box.
"What? But we don't have ferrets around here... " he said as the sleek
figure rushed across the grass faster than a car. "Must be the heat,"
he said.
Jake walked out the door and into the hallway toward the stairs. But
little did he know he was being watched...
"Hi dad, what do you need?" Jake asked as he came down the stairs.
"Well, I need some pills for a patient. I was wondering if you could
go to the pharmacy for me and-"
"Sure dad," Jake said before his dad could finish.
"Thanks. Well, I'll see you!" his dad said, but Jake was already
out the door.
On the way to the pharmacy, he noticed something new. There was a forest
that had appeared out of nowhere. No body else seemed to notice it, and
acted as if it didn't exist. "This heat must really be getting to me,"
he said. But he did decide to check it out. As he entered the woods, all
sound ceased. He turned around, but saw no city. No blue sky. Just miles,
and miles of trees. Up in the treetops, he saw something green slowly
moving, shifting, staring. To his left, a bush shook. Through the leaves
he could see what he had earlier called a ferret. It stared, then was
gone. He heard a crunching sound ahead of him and saw something blue running
away. He chased it. This had to be a dream, right?
As he chased it, it began to rain. He needed to find shelter. Convenience
had to be on the side, because the blue "thing" was running into a cave.
As he approached the cave, the rain got heavier. Which was strange, because
Florida was in the middle of a drought. Thunder clashed over head as he
ran into the cave. A light flickered. The Ferret was standing there, producing
electricity, enough to light the cave.
He looked at the ferret, and it had eyes beckoning to follow. He nodded
and the yellow ferret moved on. Soon there were two figures by his side.
A small green dragon to his left, and a small blue one to his right.
The trip seemed to take an eternity, but at last a light shone at the
end of the tunnel. Jake stepped out into the sunlight.
To be continued...
