A Pet's Point of View of the Outrageous Prices

by memo

My owner took me shopping one day and we walked into a shop that had over 500 items. She greeted the shop owner and browsed through. The first items were way overpriced, and my owner sighed, depressed. I knew exactly why she was depressed. There were 4 of us she had to feed and at the prices today, it looks like we won't be getting dinner anytime soon. We walked out of the shop and my owner said, "I'm sorry Chelise, but we won't be getting dinner today, it looks like."

I knew I had to do something, but what? I suddenly had a good idea! I had Neopoints I was saving (I was going to buy a present for my owner). She had bought me so many things over my life, it's time I bought her something. I waited till my owner was gone for the day, and I went shopping. I looked at the stores and decided to go to the garden shop. I went in and greeted the clerk.

"Hello, Chelise," he said.

"Hello Mr. Blumaroo," I greeted him.

I looked at the flowers. Too expensive. I looked at the potting soil and other gardening items. Maybe. I looked at the rest of the items. Nope. "I guess gardening supplies aren't the best presents for her," I said to myself. I walked out of the shop and looked at the other shops.

I decided on the clothes shop. I went in and said hi to the Uni at the counter. I looked at everything and decided on a blue bandanna that cost 63 NP. I took it and walked to the clerk. I haggled with the Uni and she let me have it for 58 NP.

I asked her, "Can you gift wrap this for me?"

She told me, "Certainly," and wrapped it for me. "What would you like me to put on the card?" she asked.

"To my dearest owner from Chelise," I said to her. She gave it to me and I walked home with it.

The next time my owner came, I told her to sit on the couch because I wanted to give her something. I gave her the bandanna and she opened it. She read the card and hugged me. "Thank you, Chelise!" she exclaimed to me. My owner put the bandanna in her hair and said she would wear it every day. Although the prices were still outrageous, we were happy for a long time.
